Max Richter has signed on to score the upcoming HBO original series The Leftovers. The show is created by Damon Lindelof (Lost, Prometheus, Star Trek) and Tom Perrotta (Little Children, Election) and stars Justin Theroux, Amy Brenneman, Christopher Eccleston, Liv Tyler and Ann Dowd. The series is based on Perotta’s book of the same title and takes place in the wake of a global “Rapture” and centers on the people who didn’t make the cut and are left behind in a suburban community. Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights, Lone Survivor) has directed the pilot episode. Lindelof, Perotta and Berg are also executive producing the Warner Bros. Television production with Sarah Aubrey (Battleship, Lars and the Real Girl), Ron Yerxa & Albert Berger (Little Miss Sunshine, Cold Mountain). The first 10 episodes of The Leftovers will premiere on HBO later this year.
As previously reported, Richter (Waltz with Bashir, Disconnect) also has the romantic thriller Paradise Lost starring Josh Hutcherson and Benicio Del Toro coming up.
