A couple of new shows are premiering on the major networks this week:

Premiering on Wednesday, October 10 is the superhero drama Arrow based on the DC Comics character Green Arrow, executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Mark Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg and starring Stephen Amell, Katie Cassidy, Susanna Thompson, Willa Holland and Colin Salmon. The show’s score is composed by Blake Neely (The Mentalist, Everwood, Brothers & Sisters). The composer recorded the music for the pilot with a full 80 piece orchestra at the Warner Bros. Also premiering on Wednesday night is the ABC drama Nashville created by Callie Khouri (Thelma & Louise) and starring Connie Briton, Hayden Panettiere, Powers Boothe, Eric Close, Jonathan Jackson and Charles Esten. The series’ music is written by T Bone Burnett and Keefus Green. The show follows the 40-year-old Nashville fading superstar Rayna James whose label requires her to team up with a teen sensation or else face the loss of her own tour and the label’s promotion of her latest record. Another show to premiere this week is the NBC drama Chicago Fire created by Michael Brandt & Derek Haas (3:10 to Yuma, Wanted) and stars Jesse Spencer, Taylor Kinney, Lauren German, Monica Raymund, Charlie Barnett, Teri Reeves, David Eigenberg and Eamonn Walker. Atli Orvarsson (Vantage Point, The Eagle) who has previously scored the series’ executive producer Dick Wolf’s Law & Order: LA and L.A. Dragnet is composing the score. Premiering tonight on Lifetime is the TV movie Steel Magnolias directed by Kenny Leon and starring Queen Latifah, Alfre Woodard, Phylicia Rashad, Jill Scott, Adepero Oduye and Condola Rashad. The film is a remake of the 1989 feature directed by Herbert Ross and starring Sally Field, Shirley MacLaine and Julia Roberts about the lives and friendship of six women in Louisiana. William Ross (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Ladder 49) has composed the film’s score. Another  TV film that premiered on Lifetime this past Saturday and will be airing in repeats this week is the drama Abducted: The Carlina White Story directed by Vondie Curtis-Hall and starring Aunjanue Ellis, Keke Palmer, Sherri Shepherd and Roger Cross. The film’s music is composed by Terence Blanchard (Inside ManThe 25th HourRed Tails) who previously collaborated with the director on such movies as Waist Deep and Glitter. The movie follows Carlina White, who was abducted as an infant and solved her own kidnapping and reunited with her biological parents 23 years later.
