John Ottman has officially signed on to score X-Men: Apocalypse. The film is directed by Bryan Singer and star Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassebender, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters and Rose Byrne who return in their roles from X-Men: First Class and Days of Future Past. They are joined by new cast members Sophie Turner who will play Jean Grey, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler, as well as Oscar Isaacs and Ben Hardy. Simon Kinberg who scripted the previous film in the franchise is writing the screenplay for the sequel, which takes place in the 1980s. Singer and Kinberg are also producing the project with Lauren Shuler Donner and Hutch Parker. Ottman will also once again serve as the film’s editor.

‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ Soundtrack Details
The details of the soundtrack album for the superhero sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past have been revealed. The album features the film’s original score composed by John Ottman (The Usual Suspects, Superman Returns, The Fantastic Four) who previously scored X2. Also included is Roberta Flack’s song The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face and Jim Groce’s Time in a Bottle. The soundtrack will be released digitally on May 19, 2014 and physically on June 3.The CD version is now available for pre-order on Amazon. ‘The Wolverine’ Soundtrack Details
Sony Classical will release the official soundtrack album for the comic book adaptation The Wolverine. The album features the film’s original score composed by Marco Beltrami (3:10 to Yuma, Scream, World War Z). The Wolverine is directed by James Mangold (Walk the Line) and stars Hugh Jackman in the title role. The film takes the character of the X-Men universe to modern-day Japan where he faces a host of unexpected and deadly opponents in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. The movie is set to be released nationwide on July 26 by 20th Century Fox.

John Ottman has officially signed on to score the upcoming superhero film sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past. The film reunites the composer with Bryan Singer who is directing his third entry in the franchise. The movie acts as a sequel to both 2011’s X-Men: First Class (scored by Henry Jackman) and 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand (scored by John Powell) and stars Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore and Daniel Cudmore from the original trilogy, as well as James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult from the last part in the series. They are joined by new cast members Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Booboo Stewart and Fan Bingbing, Singer is also writing the story and Simon Kinberg, Matthew Vaughn and Jane Goldman are penning the script. The director is also producing the project with Vaughn, Kinberg and Richard & Lauren Shuler Donner.
Marco Beltrami to Score ‘The Wolverine’
Marco Beltrami confirmed in a recent interview with Film Music Reporter that he has signed on to score the upcoming comic book adaptation The Wolverine. The film is directed by James Mangold (Walk the Line, Identity) and stars Hugh Jackman who returns in the role he originated in the X-Men franchise and is joined by actors Will Yun Lee, Hiroyuki Sanada and Brian Tee. The movie follows Logan/Wolverine on his travels to Japan, where he engages a mysterious figure from his past in a fight that has lasting consequences. Academy Award-winning screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects, Valkyrie) and Mark Bomback (Unstoppable, Live Free or Die Hard) have penned the script. Lauren Shuler-Donner (X-Men series), Marvel Entertainment’s Kevin Feige, Jackman and Hutch Parker are producing the project.
