John Williams has premiered his theme from Lucasfilm’s Disney+ limited series Obi-Wan Kenobi at today’s first day of Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, California. The composer himself appeared at the event to conduct his theme, as well the Imperial March and the Indiana Jones theme. Natalie Holt (Loki, Knightfall, Journey’s End, Herself, Fever Dream, Beecham House, Press) has composed the original score for the upcoming Disney+ original series Obi-Wan Kenobi. The show is directed by Deborah Chow and stars Ewan McGregor Hayden Christensen, Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Kumail Nanjiani, Bonnie Piesse, Indira Varma, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Rupert Friend, Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie. The drama takes place 10 years after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Obi-Wan faced the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.
Disney+’s ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ TV Series to Feature Theme by John Williams
Variety has confirmed that John Williams has recorded a theme for the upcoming Disney+ limited series Obi-Wan Kenobi. The composer has recorded the theme last week with a Los Angeles orchestra. The show is written by Joby Harold (King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Underground), directed by Deborah Chow (The High Cost of Living) and stars Ewan McGregor in the title role and Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader. They are joined by Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie. The 6-part drama takes place ten years after events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat – the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.
Nicholas Britell to Score Disney+’s ‘Rogue One’ Prequel Series ‘Andor’
Nicholas Britell (Succession, Moonlight, If Beale Street Could Talk, Don’t Look Up, Cruella, Vice, The Big Short, The Underground Railroad) has been tapped to score the upcoming Disney+ original series Andor. The show is developed by Tony Gilroy (Michael Clayton) and stars Diego Luna who will reprise his role of Cassian Andor from 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma, as well as Stellan Skarsgard, Denise Gough, Fiona Shaw and Kyle Soller. The Lucasfilm production takes place five years before the events of Rogue One. No plot details have been announced yet.
Expanded ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ Soundtrack to Be Released
Walt Disney Records will release a new soundtrack album for Lucasfilm’s 2016 feature Rogue One: A Star Wars Story directed by Gareth Edwards and starring Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Jiang Wen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed and Forest Whitaker . The album features the film’s expanded original score composed by Academy Award winner Michael Giacchino (Up, Lost, Jurassic World, Spider-Man: No Way Home, The Incredibles, Star Trek, Ratatouille, War for the Planet of the Apes, Doctor Strange), as well as six alternate cues. John Williams has composed the original Star Wars music used in Giacchino’s score. The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, February 11 and will be available to stream/download on all major digital music platforms (including Amazon).

Ludwig Göransson (Black Panther, Creed, Tenet, Venom, Community) is returning as composer for the upcoming Disney+ original series The Book of Boba Fett. The show stars Temuera Morrison in the title role and Ming-Na Wen as Fennec Shand, both of which are reprising their roles from Lucasfilm’s first Star Wars live-action series The Mandalorian. Jon Favreau (Iron Man, The Jungle Book, Elf), Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, Alita: Battle Angel) and Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars: The Bad Batch) are executive producing the Lucasfilm production.
