Intrada Records will release a soundtrack album for the horror thriller Hatchet III. The album features the film’s original music composed by Scott Glasgow (The Gene Generation, Hack!, Chasing Ghosts). The soundtrack is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also listen to audio samples. Hatchet III is directed by BJ McDonnell, written and produced by Adam Green and stars Danielle Harris, Kane Hodder, Zach Galligan and Caroline Williams. The third and final installment in the slasher horror film series follows a young woman who seeks revenge on the monster that killed her family while they were fishing in Louisiana swamp country.

‘Poker Night’ Soundtrack Details
MovieScore Media will release a soundtrack album for the thriller Poker Night. The album features the film’s original music is composed by Scott Glasgow (Hatchet III, Taking Chances, The Gene Generation, Chasing Ghosts). The soundtrack will be released digitally on December 18, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Poker Night is written and directed by Greg Francis and stars Ron Perlman, Giancarlo Esposito, Beau Mirchoff, Titus Welliver, Michael Eklund, Ron Eldard and Corey Large. The movie follows a young detective who is caught in a sadistic game of cat-and-mouse when he is kidnapped and tormented by a masked serial killer.
Scott Glasgow to Score ‘The Curse of Sleeping Beauty’
Director Pearry Teo announced on Twitter that Scott Glasgow is set to score the upcoming fantasy thriller The Curse of Sleeping Beauty. The film is written and directed by Teo and stars India Eisley, Zack Ward, Ethan Peck, Bruce Davison and Natalie Hall. The movie is based on the classic Brother Grimm fairy tale and follows a man who inherits an ancestral mansion that has been in his family for generations, only to learn that he has also inherited an ancient curse stemming back to the Crusades. He teams with an ambitious local realtor and paranormal cleric to unravel the mystery of the house, while struggling to awaken a beautiful woman, held captive in a terrifying netherworld seen previously in his dreams. Teo is also producing the project with Bleiberg Entertainment’s Ehud Bleiberg (The Iceman, McCanick, The Band’s Visit).

Opening in around 600 theaters is the horror thriller The Pyramid directed by Gregory Levasseur, produced by Alexandre Aja and starring Ashley Hinshaw, James Buckley, Denis O’Hare, Christa Nicola and Amir K. The film’s original music is composed by Nima Fakhrara (The Signal, The Courier). No soundtrack album has been announced. The Pyramid follows a group of U.S. archaeologists who discover a lost pyramid unlike any other in the Egyptian desert. The thriller is being released by 20th Century Fox. Already playing in select theaters since this past Wednesday is the drama Wild directed by Jean-Marc Vallee and starring Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Thomas Sadoski, Gaby Hoffman, Kevin Rankin and Michiel Huisman. The film doesn’t feature an original score. Sony Legacy has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film by such artists as Simon & Garfunkel, Bruce Springsteen, Leonard Cohen, Portishead, The Shangri-Las, Billy Swan, Lucina Williams, Wings, Pat Metheny Group & more. Scott Glasgow to Score ‘Poker Night’
Scott Glasgow has signed on to score the crime thriller Poker Night. The film is written and directed by Greg Francis and stars Ron Perlman, Giancarlo Esposito, Titus Welliver, Ron Eldard and Beau Mirchoff. The movie follows a young cop who learns from a Greek chorus of wiser, older detectives gathered for their ritual night of poker when a killer pulls the young cop and his mentors into a web of mutual deceit. Corey Large (Loaded) and Alan Pao are producing the project for Wingman Productions. Glasgow has previously collaborated with the producers on the features Chasing Ghosts and Toxic.
Comic-Con 2013 Update
Since our last update on this year’s film music-related events at Comic-Con in San Diego, a couple of additional announcements have been made. Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica, The Walking Dead) has joined the panel The Anatomy of Superhero Film Music: Bringing a Comic Book to Life, which also features such participants as Marco Beltrami and Brian Tyler. It was just announced that the composer will be scoring Marvel’s upcoming superhero TV series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. earlier this week. As previously reported, McCreary will also participate in The Character of Music panel with Jonathan Steinberg from the upcoming Black Sails series. In addition, there will also be a live performance of the original Black Sails score with McCreary playing accordion and hurdy gurdy at a screening event on July 18 at 8:30 p.m. at Reading Cinemas (701 5th Ave). Finally, the composer will also participate in a panel for the sci-fi feature Europa Report with director Sebastián Cordero, producer Ben Browning, actress Karolina Wydra and JPL scientists Steve Vance and Kevin Hand.

Two new movies are opening wide this week:
Opening in most theaters is the Superman reboot Man of Steel directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni and Russell Crowe. The film’s music is composed by Hans Zimmer. WaterTower Music has released two different soundtrack albums featuring the composer’s music earlier this week. RCA Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film, including the original track Take Yo Panties Off by Snoop Dogg & Craig Robinson, as well as tracks by Cypress Hill, Whitney Houston, Funkadelic, Backstreet Boys, Norman Greenbaum, J-Kwon, K.Flay and a track from James Franco’s band Daddy. ‘Riddle’ and ‘Mimesis: Night of the Living Dead’ Soundtrack Announced
Varese Sarabande has announced two new limited edition soundtrack releases. First up is a soundtrack album for the thriller Riddle. The album features the film’s score composed and conducted by Scott Glasgow (Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles, Taking Chances). Hartman & Nicholas Mross and starring Elisabeth Harnois, Val Kilmer, Diora Baird and William Sadler follows a college student who is drawn to the mysterious small town of Riddle, Pennsylvania in search of her missing brother and begins to unravel a mystery connected to an abandoned psychiatric hospital on the edge of town.
Scott Glasgow to Score ‘Hatchet III’
Scott Glasgow is currently scoring the upcoming horror sequel Hatchet III. The movie starring Danielle Harris and Kane Hodder, Caroline Williams and Sean Whalen picks up where Hatchet II left off, as a young woman sought revenge on the monster that killed her family while they were fishing in Louisiana swamp country. The film marks the directorial debut of BJ McDonnell who served as a cameraman on the first two Hatchet installments. The creator of the series, Adam Green, has written the screenplay and is executing the ArieScope Pictures and Dark Sky Films production. The previous two Hatchet movies featured music by Andy Garfield. Hatchet III is currently in post-production and will be released later this year.
