52Hz has released the first-ever soundtrack album for the 2013 indie drama Blue Caprice directed by Alexandre Moors and starring Isaiah Washington, Tequan Richmond, Joey Lauren Adams, Tim Blake Nelson and Leo Fitzpatrick. The album features the film’s original music composed by Colin Stetson (Hereditary, Color Out of Space, The First, Barksins) and Sarah Neufeld (Lavender). The soundtrack is now available to stream on Amazon (or any other major digital music stores), where you can also check out audio samples. Blue Caprice premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival and was released in theaters later that year by IFC Films.

Colin Stetson & Sarah Neufeld Scoring ‘Lavender’
Colin Stetson and Sarah Neufeld are composing the music for the upcoming psychological thriller Lavender. The film is directed by Ed Gass-Donnelly (The Last Exorcism Part II) and stars Abbie Cornish, Diego Klattenhoff, Dermot Mulroney, Justin Long, Lola Flanery and Sarah Abbot. The movie follows a photographer struggling with severe memory loss who begins to think that she may be responsible for the deaths of family members she never knew she had. Gass-Donnelly has written the screenplay with Colin Frizzell and is also producing the project with Dave Valleau (Reasonable Doubt, The Entitled).

Two new movies are opening wide this weekend:
Expected to top the box office is the horror sequel Insidious: Chapter 2 directed by James Wan and starring Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye, Ty Simpkins, Leigh Wannell and Barbara Hershey. The film’s original score is composed by Joseph Bishara (The Conjuring, Dark Skies). Void Recordings has released a soundtrack featuring the composer’s music digitally earlier this week. Also opening wide is the crime comedy The Family directed by Luc Besson and starring Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Tommy Lee Jones and Dianna Agron. The film’s original music is composed by Evgueni Galperine and Sacha Galperine. EuropaCorp has released a soundtrack album featuring the score, as well as the songs from the film, including New York, I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down by LCD Soundsystem, Me and My Baby by Don Cavalli and Doce Doce by Fred Bongusto.
