La-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1990 superhero movie Darkman directed by Sam Raimi and starring Liam Neeson, Frances McDormand, Colin Friels and Larry Drake. The 2-CD set features the original music from the Universal Pictures production composed by Danny Elfman (Batman, Spider-Man, Alice in Wonderland, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Avengers: Age of Ultron), including the 1990 original soundtrack album on the first disc, and the expanded original score (featuring over 30 minutes of previously unreleased music) on the second disc. ‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ Soundtrack Details
Varese Sarabande will release a soundtrack album for the Starz original series Ash vs. Evil Dead. The album features selections from the show’s original music composed by Joseph LoDuca (Evil Dead film series, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Xena: Warrior Princess, The Librarians). Joseph LoDuca to Score Starz’s ‘Ash vs. Evil Dead’ TV Series
Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell revealed in a recent interview with Collider that Joseph LoDuca will be providing the score for the upcoming Starz original series Ash vs. Evil Dead. The show is the follow-up to the classic film franchise The Evil Dead and stars Bruce Campbell who will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. Lucy Lawless, Ray Santiago, Dana DeLorenzo and Jill Marie Jones are c0-starring. Sam Raimi (Spider-Man, Oz: The Great and Powerful) is directing the pilot episode and is also executive producing the project with Rob Tapert (Drag Me to Hell, The Grudge), Campbell and Craig DiGregorio who will also serve as the showrunner of the project.
Deborah Lurie Scoring ‘Murder of a Cat’
Deborah Lurie has recently recorded her score for the upcoming comedic thriller Murder of a Cat. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Gillian Greene and stars Fran Kranz, Nikki Reed, J.K. Simmons and Greg Kinnear. The movie follows a young man who discovers his dead cat was leading a double life with another owner. Christian Magalhaes & Robert Snow (New Girl) have written the Black List-honored screenplay. Sam Raimi (Spider-Man, Oz the Great and Powerful) is producing the project. Lurie’s previous film scoring credits include such titles as Dear John, An Unfinished Life, Footloose and Safe Haven.
‘Oz the Great and Powerful’ Soundtrack Details
The full soundtrack details for the fantasy adventure Oz the Great and Powerful have been revealed. The album features the film’s original score composed by Danny Elfman. The soundtrack will be released digitally on March 5, 2013 by Walt Disney Records and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A physical version will be released by Intrada Records. Mariah Carey Performs ‘Almost Home’ for ‘Oz the Great and Powerful’
Disney announced today that Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Mariah Carey has recorded the original song Almost Home for Sam Raimi’s upcoming fantasy adventure Oz the Great and Powerful. The track will be released as a single by Carey’s label, Island Def Jam, on February 19, 2013. David LaChapelle will direct Carey in the music video for Almost Home. Carey has written the song with Simone Porter, Justin Gray, Lindsey Ray, Tor Erik Hermansen and Mikkel Eriksen. She has previously performed original songs for such films as The Prince of Egypt and Glitter. As previously reported, Danny Elfman has composed the score for Oz the Great and Powerful, which will be released by Intrada and Walt Disney Records next month.

Roque Banos to Score ‘Evil Dead’ Remake
Roque Banos has signed on to score the upcoming remake of the horror comedy Evil Dead. The film is written and directed by Fede Alvarez and stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Jessica Lucas, Lou Taylor Pucci and Elizabeth Blackmore. The movie is a reinvention of Sam Raimi’s 1981 cult classic about a group of teens who holed up in a remote cabin and discover a Book of the Dead that unleashes demons they cannot control. Raimi is producing the remake with Rob Tapert (Drag me to Hell, The Grudge) and Bruce Campbell through his Ghost House Pictures company. Joseph LoDuca scored the original 1981 film and the two sequels Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness.
Danny Elfman to Reunite with Sam Raimi on ‘Oz’ and In Talks to Score ‘The Hunger Games’
In a recent interview with Danny Elfman at the Grammy Museum’s Clive Davis Theater in downtown Los Angeles, the composer talked about some of his upcoming projects. He revealed that he will be reuniting with director Sam Raimi for the first time since 2004’s Spider-Man 2. Raimi’s next directorial effort is Walt Disney Pictures’ fantasy tentpole Oz: The Great and Powerful. The film is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz that finds the titular character arriving in the Land of Oz and being treated like a wizard by the colorful locals. The movie’s cast includes James Franco, Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz. David Lindsay-Abaire (Robots, Rabbit Hole) is writing the screenplay and Joe Roth (Alice in Wonderland) is producing.
