Bibio is composing the original music for the upcoming drama Men, Women & Children. The film is directed by Jason Reitman and stars Rosemarie DeWitt, Adam Sandler, Kaitlyn Dever, Ansel Elgort, Jennifer Garner, Judy Greer, Elena Kampouris, Emma Thompson, J.K. Simmons and Dean Norris. The movie follows a group of teenagers and their parents as they attempt to navigate the many ways the internet has changed their relationships, their communication, their self-image, and their love lives. Reitman has co-written the screenplay with Erin Cressida Wilson (Secretary, Chloe) based on a novel by Chad Kultgen. He is also producing the project with Helen Estabrook (Whiplash, Labor Day). The project marks the film scoring debut of Bibio aka Stephen Wilkinson who is best known as a producer of electronic and experimental music.

‘Labor Day’ Soundtrack Announced
Warner Bros. Records will release a soundtrack album for Jason Reitman’s drama Labor Day. The album features the film’s original score composed by Rolfe Kent (Sideways, The Wedding Crashers, Election) who previously scored the director’s features Thank You for Smoking, Up in the Air and Young Adult. Also included are the songs from the film performed by Arlo Guthrie and Vashti Bunyan, as well as classical guitar pieces by Andrés Segovia and Shin-ichi Fukuda. The soundtrack will be released digitally on December 17, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A CD version will be coming out on January 28 and is available to order here. Labor Day starring Kate Winslet, Josh Brolin, Gattlin Griffith, Clark Gregg and Tobey Maguire follows a mother and son who encounter a man on a shopping trip who convinces them to take him into their home and later is revealed to be an escaped convict. The drama will receive an Academy Awards-qualifying theatrical run in Los Angeles later this year and is set to be released nationwide on January 31, 2014 by Paramount Pictures.
Rolfe Kent to Score Jason Reitman’s ‘Labor Day’
Rolfe Kent revealed at a composer panel at this year’s Los Angeles Film Festival that he has already started work on Jason Reitman’s coming-of-age drama Labor Day. The film stars Kate Winslet, Josh Brolin, Gattlin Griffiths, Lucas Hedges, Alexie Gilmore and Micah Fowler. The movie based on the novel by Joyce Maynard (To Die For) and adapted for the screen by Reitman follows a 13-year old boy who must care for his reclusive mother while dealing with the typical troubles of adolescence. Reitman is producing the Indian Paintbrush production with Helen Estabrook, Liane Halfon & Russell Smith (Juno, Ghost World).
‘Young Adult’ Soundtrack Details
Rhino Records is set to release the official soundtrack album for Jason Reitman’s dramedy Young Adult. The album includes one track by the composer of the film Rolfe Kent (who previously scored the director’s Thank You for Smoking and Up in the Air), as well as five tracks by Juno composer Mateo Messina. Also featured on the soundtrack are the songs from the movie by artists including Diana Ross, 4 Non Blondes, The Replacements, Lemonheads, Veruca Salt, Teenage Fanclub, Cracker, Dinosaur Jr. and Suicidal Tendencies. Mateo Messina to Score ‘Butter’
Mateo Messina has been hired to score the satirical comedy Butter. The film is set in the Midwest U.S., where an adopted girl discovers her talent for butter carving and finds herself pitted against an ambitious local woman in their town’s annual contest. The movie stars Jennifer Garner, Olivia Wilde, Hugh Jackman, Ty Burrell, Yara Shahidi, Alicia Silverstone, Ashley Greene, Rob Corddry and Kristen Schaal. Jim Field Smith (She’s Out of My League) is directing from a script by Jason Micaleff. Garner is also producing alongside Michael DeLuca (The Social Network).
Rolfe Kent to score ‘Young Adult’
Jason Reitman revealed at the recent Power of Story – The Big Picture Panel at this year’s Sundance Film Festival (which included composer Thomas Newman) that he is about to reunite with composer Rolfe Kent on his new comedy drama Young Adult. The film marks the Reitman’s fourth feature directing effort. Kent previously wrote the score for the director’s Thank You For Smoking! and Up in the Air. Young Adult is scripted by Diablo Cody who worked with Reitman on 2007’s hit indie comedy drama Juno. The movie centers around a divorced writer from the Midwest who returns to her hometown to reconnect with an old flame, who’s now married with a family.
