Milan Records has released a soundtrack album for the Japanese drama Monster. The album features the music from the film composed by Ryuichi Sakamoto (The Last Emperor, The Revenant, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, Little Buddha, Snake Eyes), including two original pieces, which the late composer wrote for the project, as well as several tracks from his solo albums. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. A CD and vinyl edition was released in Japan earlier this year (click here to order both versions as an import). Listen to Sakamoto’s two original tracks from the film below. Monster is directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda, written by Yuji Sakamoto and stars Sakura Ando, Eita Nagayama, Hinata Hiragi, Soya Kurokawa and Yuko Tanaka. The movie follows a mother who discovers that a teacher’s bullying is behind her young son’s sudden strange behavior.

‘The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House’ Soundtrack Album Details
Captain Duckling Records will release the official soundtrack album for the Japanese Netflix original series The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House. The album features the show’s original music composed by Yoko Kanno (Cowboy Bebop). The soundtrack will be released digitally in two different versions tomorrow, January 11. The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House is written and directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda and stars Nana Mori, Natsuki Deguchi, Aju Makita, Kairi Jyo, Momoko Fukuchi, Kotoko, Wakayanagi, Kotona Minami and Lily Franky. The 9-part drama is based on the comic Maiko in Kyoto: From the Maiko House by Aiko Koyama and follows two inseparable friends who move to Kyoto to chase their dreams of becoming maiko, but decide to pursue different passions while living under the same roof.
Ryuichi Sakamoto to Score Hirokazu Kore-eda’s ‘Monster’
Gaga Corporation announced today that Ryuichi Sakamoto (The Last Emperor, The Revenant, Little Buddha, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, Snake Eyes) is set to score the upcoming Japanese drama Monster (Kaibutsu). The film is directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda (Shoplifters, The Truth, Broker) and stars Sakura Ando, Nagayama Eita, Mitsuki Takahata, Akihiro Kakuta, Yuko Tanaka, Shido Nakamura, Soya Kurokawa and Hinata Hiiragi. No story details have been announced yet.
‘Broker’ Soundtrack Album Released
CJ ENM has released a soundtrack album for the South Korean drama Broker. The album features the film’s original score composed by Jaeil Jung (Parasite, Squid Game, Okja, Take Point). Broker is written and directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda and stars Song Kang Ho, Gang Dong Won, Doona Bae, Lee Ji Eun and Lee Joo Young. The movie follows two “brokers of goodwill” who connect unwanted babies with new parents on the black market who embark on a road trip to meet prospective parents for a new baby, when the birth mother unexpectedly shows up to join them on their journey.

Music Box Records has announced a soundtrack album for the French drama The Truth (La vérité). The album features the film’s original music composed by Alexei Aigui (The Young Karl Marx, I Am Not Your Negro). The soundtrack will be released on January 6, 2020.
