Milan Records has released a soundtrack album for the Japanese drama Monster. The album features the music from the film composed by Ryuichi Sakamoto (The Last EmperorThe Revenant, Merry Christmas Mr. LawrenceLittle Buddha, Snake Eyes), including two original pieces, which the late composer wrote for the project, as well as several tracks from his solo albums. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. A CD and vinyl edition was released in Japan earlier this year (click here to order both versions as an import). Listen to Sakamoto’s two original tracks from the film below. Monster is directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda, written by Yuji Sakamoto and stars Sakura Ando, Eita Nagayama, Hinata Hiragi, Soya Kurokawa and Yuko Tanaka. The movie follows a mother who discovers that a teacher’s bullying is behind her young son’s sudden strange behavior.The drama, which premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, was released in Japanese theaters this past summer and is being released in New York this week by Well Go USA Entertainment before expanding to more U.S. markets in December.
