Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the historical drama For Greater Glory: The True Story of Cristiada. The album features the film’s music composed and conducted by Academy Award-winning composer James Horner. The soundtrack’s release date has been pushed back to October 2, 2012 since our last update. For Greater Glory directed by Dean Wright and starring Andy Garcia, Eva Longoria, Nestor Carbonell, Bruce Greenwood and Peter O’Toole was released in theaters earlier this summer and is set to be released on Blu-Ray and DVD on September 11.

Varese Sarabande has announced a soundtrack release for the historical epic drama For Greater Glory: The True Story of Cristiada. The album features the film’s original score composed and conducted by James Horner. The composer’s music was recorded with a 100-piece orchestra and choir at Abbey Road Studios in London. Expected to top the weekend box office is Universal Pictures’ epic fantasy adventure Snow White and the Huntsman directed by Rupert Sanders and starring Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron, Lily Cole, Sam Claflin, Sam Spruell, Ian McShane, Nick Frost, Bob Hoskins, Toby Jones and Eddie Marsan. The film’s score is composed by James Newton Howard. The composer was also involved in the original song Breath Of Life by Florence + the Machine, which is featured on the soundtrack album along with the score and is available on Universal Republic. James Horner Recording the Music for ‘Cristiada’
James Horner is currently recording his score for the historical epic Cristiada at Abbey Road Studios in London. The music is being recorded with a 100-piece orchestra and the recording sessions are scheduled for this and next week. Check out the film’s official Facebook page for tons of pictures and daily updates from the sessions. Clara Sanabras has been identified as the vocalist on the score. Another soloist and musician, Tony Hinnigan, who has worked with Horner on numerous films, including Braveheart and Titanic, has also been spotted in the pictures. Cristiada directed by Dean Wright chronicles the Cristeros War (1926-1929), which was touched off by a rebellion against the Mexican government’s attempt to secularize the country.

According to AsturScore, James Horner is scoring the upcoming historical drama Cristiada. Horner’s involvement has been confirmed to the site by the film’s production company NewLand Films and the assignment has also been reported on the film’s official Facebook page. The movie chronicles the Cristeros War (1926-1929), which was touched off by a rebellion against the Mexican government’s attempt to secularize the country. The film is directed by Dean Wright, who makes his directorial debut and has previously worked as a visual effects producer and supervisor on such movies as The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and The Return of the King, as well as the first two movies in The Chronicles of Narnia series. Cristiada stars Andy Garcia, Eva Longoria, Bruce Greenwood, Nestor Carbonell and Peter O’Toole.
