The full details of the soundtrack album for Angelina Jolie’s drama Unbroken have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Alexandre Desplat (The King’s Speech, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The Imitation Game). Also included is the original song Miracles performed by Coldplay. The soundtrack will be released on December 15, 2014 by Parlophone Records and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Unbroken starring Jack O’Connell, Domhnall Gleeson, Miyavi, Garrett Hedlund and Finn Wittrock tells the story Olympian and war hero Louis “Louie” Zamperini who, along with two other crewmen, survived in a raft for 47 days after a near-fatal plane crash in World War II – only to be caught by the Japanese Navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp.

Two new movies opened nationwide this past Wednesday:
Opening in most theaters this week is the animated feature Penguins of Madagascar directed by Simon Smith & Eric Darnell and featuring the voice talent of Tom McGrath, Chris Miller, Chris Knights, John Malkovich, Benedict Cumberbatch, Annett Mahendru, Ken Jeong and Peter Stormare. The film’s original music is composed by Lorne Balfe (Megamind, The Dilemma). Relativity Music Group has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score from the film, as well as a separate soundtrack featuring five holiday songs. ‘Unbroken’ Soundtrack Preview
Universal Pictures has published five tracks from the original score for Angelina Jolie’s epic drama Unbroken. The film’s music is composed by Alexandre Desplat (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The King’s Speech). Alexandre Desplat Named Film Composer of the Year at World Soundtrack Awards 2014
Alexandre Desplat was chosen as Film Composer of the Year 2014 at the World Soundtrack Awards 2012, tonight’s closing event of the 41st Ghent Film Festival. Desplat also received an award for his score for Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel in the Best Original Film Score of the Year category. Desplat also composed the music for such films as Gareth Edward’s Godzilla, George Clooney’s The Monuments Men and Stephen Frears’ Philomena over the past year. The composer previously was named Film Composer of the Year in 2007, 2009 and 2011. In the Discovery of the Year category, Daniel Pemberton was awarded for his work over the last year, which included his scores for Ridley Scott’s The Counselor and the comedy Cuban Fury. In the Best Original Song category, Pharrell Williams was honored for his Oscar-nominated song Happy from Despicable Me 2.
Alexandre Desplat to Score ‘Suffragette’
Alexandre Desplat is currently scoring the upcoming historical drama Suffragette. The film is directed by Sarah Gavron (Brick Lane) and stars Carey Mulligan, Meryl Streep, Helena Bonham Carter, Ben Whishaw, Brendan Gleeson, Romola Garai, Anne-Marie Duff and Samuel West. The movie takes place during the early days of the women’s suffrage movement in the U.K. and centers around the foot soldiers who were forced underground. Abi Morgan (The Iron Lady, Shame, The Invisible Woman) has written the screenplay. Faye Ward and Alison Owen (Saving Mr. Banks, Elizabeth, Jane Eyre) are producing the Ruby Films production.
‘The Imitation Game’ Soundtrack Details
Sony Classical will release a soundtrack album for the drama The Imitation Game. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award-nominated composer Alexandre Desplat (The King’s Speech, The Queen, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Argo). The soundtrack will be released on November 10, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips. The Imitation Game is directed by Morten Tyldum and stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Alan Turing, the genius British mathematician, logician, cryptologist and computer scientist who led the charge to crack the German Enigma Code that helped the Allies win WWII. Keira Knightley, Mark Strong, Matthew Goode and Charles Dance are co-starring.
Alexandre Desplat to Head Venice Film Festival Jury
It was announced today that Alexandre Desplat has been named president of the International Jury for the Competition section of the 71st Venice International Film Festival, which will run from August 27 to September 6. It marks the first time that a film composer has been chosen to head the jury, which comprise nine members and decide on the winner of the Golden Lion for Best Film and other awards. Desplat is known for his collaborations with directors Wes Anderson (The Grand Budapest Hotel), Terrence Malick (The Tree of Life), Roman Polanski (The Ghost Writer), George Clooney (The Monuments Men) among many others. He received six Academy Award nominations for such films as The Queen, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Fantastic Mr. Fox, The King’s Speech, Argo and Philomena.

Rhino Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film and the musical written by Bob Gaudio and featuring lyrics by Bob Crewe, as well as original recordings by Frankie Vallie & The Four Seasons. Also opening wide is the comedy sequel Think Like a Man Too directed by Tim Story and starring Kevin Hart, Regina Hall, Taraji P. Alexandre Desplat Takes Over Scoring Duties on ‘The Imitation Game’
Alexandre Desplat has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming drama The Imitation Game. The film is directed by Morten Tyldum (Headhunters) and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Keira Knightley, Mark Strong, Matthew Goode and Charles Dance. The movie follows a British mathematician and cryptographer who helped crack the German enigma code during the final years of World War II and was later prosecuted by the British government in the early 1950s for being a homosexual. Graham Moore has written the script based on the book Alan Turing: The Enigma. Teddy Schwarzman (All Is Lost) is producing the project with Nora Grossman and Ido Ostrowsky.
