Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1982 animated feature The Secret of NIMH directed by Don Bluth and starring Elizabeth Hartman, Dom DeLuise, Derek Jacobi, Hermione Baddeley, Peter Strauss and John Carradine. The album features the expanded and newly remastered score from the film composed and conducted by Academy Award winner Jerry Goldsmith (The OmenStar Trek: The Motion Picture, Planet of the ApesPatton, Basic Instinct, GremlinsChinatown), including around eight minutes o of previously unreleased music. Composer Keefus Ciancia (Killing EveEric, The Radleys, London Spy, Great Expectations, The FallMade for LoveDiana, The Motel Life) is reuniting with writer/director Nic Pizzolatto on the upcoming drama Easy’s Waltz. The film is written and directed by Pizzolatto (The Magnificent Seven, The Guilty) and stars Vince Vaughn, Kate Mara, Al Pacino, Shania Twain, Cobie Smulders and Simon Rex. The movie follows a down-on-his-luck Vegas crooner who’s offered a shot at a comeback by an old-school Vegas personality, but his brother’s schemes and his own penchant for self-sabotage threaten to ruin the deal. Atresmedia Música has released a new soundtrack album for the Spanish TV series Mariliendre. The album features selections of the show’s original score composed by Pablo Lluch & Vic Mirallas. A separate album featuring the songs from the musical dramedy has previously been released last month. Two Rivers Media has released has released a soundtrack album for the documentary The Last Musician of Auschwitz. The album features the film’s original music composed by Jessica Dannheisser (Daddy Issues, Whitstable Pearl, Knuckle, Silverpoint, A Kind of Spark), as well as pieces by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Robert Schumann, among others, arranged by Dannheisser. Also included is musicologist Petra Gelbart’s performance of There Is a Large Building in Auschwitz, as well as the rendition of the Jewish Deathsong (a reworking of a traditional Yiddish folk song, devised by Berlin choirmaster Martin Rosebury D’Arguto) that ends the film.
