John Frizzell (Alien: Resurrection, Office Space, Dante’s Peak, The Waterfront, Beavis and Butt-Head Do America, Legion, Thirteen Ghosts, Gods and Generals) is returning to score Hulu’s revival of the animated hit series King of the Hill. The composer has scored all ten episodes of the new season of the show created by Mike Judge & Greg Daniels and starring Judge himself, Kathy Najimy, Pamela Adlon, Stephen Root, Johnny Hardwick, Lauren Tom and Toby Huss. Bluegrass singer/songwriter and guitarist Billy Strings has contributed a new arrangement of The Refreshment’s theme “song” for the end titles sequence of the animated comedy. Season 14 follows Hank and Peggy Hill who – after years working a propane job in Saudi Arabia to earn their retirement nest egg – return to a changed Arlen, Texas to reconnect with old friends Dale, Boomhauer and Bill. Decca Records will release the official soundtrack album for the period drama Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale. The album features the film’s original music composed by Emmy Award winner John Lunn (The Last Kingdom, The White Queen, Jamestown, Belgravia, The White Princess) who has previously scored all episodes of the Downton Abbey TV series, as as well as 2019’s first feature and the 2022 sequel Downton Abbey: A New Era. The soundtrack will be released digitally and on CD on September 12. A vinyl edition will be coming out on October 24. Visit Amazon to pre-order the CD and digital version and vinyl edition. Kris Bowers (The Wild Robot, Bridgerton, Green Book, Secret Invasion, King Richard, Haunted Mansion, Dear White People, The Color Purple, Space Jam: A New Legacy) has composed the original score for the upcoming documentary The Eyes of Ghana. The film is directed by Ben Proudfoot (The Queen of Basketball) and details the rise and fall of revolutionary African leader Kwame Nkrumah, a towering figure of African history who inspired the liberation of the continent in the 1950s and 1960s after rising to serve as Ghana’s first President. Faction Records has released a soundtrack album for the Irish drama Christy. The album features the film’s original score composed by Daithi (Lakelands). Also included are songs by Murli, Bony, Citrus Fresh, Hazey Haze, Strange Boy, Rira, Issac Nelson and Kabin Crew. Premiering tonight is the HBO original documentary series The Yogurt Shop Murders directed by Margaret Brown about the tragic murder of four teenage girls at an I Can’t Believe It’s Yogurt Shop on December 6, 1991 in Austin, TX. The show’s original music is composed by Claudia Sarne (The Book of Eli, Shining Girls, Triple 9, Broken City, Earthquake Bird, Dispatches from Elsewhere). The track is co-written (with Jean-Yves “Jeeve” Ducornet) and performed by Kat Graham (who also stars in the film’s lead role) and is now available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon. The album features the film’s original music composed by Ryan Holladay & Hays Holladay (Class Action Park) and director Zach Cregger (Barbarian).
