Three new movies are opening in wide release this week:
Already in theaters since this past Tuesday is the comic boot film reboot The Amazing Spider-Man directed by Marc Webb and starring Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans as The Lizard, as well as Martin Sheen, Sally Field and Denis Leary. The film’s music is composed and conducted by James Horner. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this week. Also opening wide is the crime drama Savages directed by Oliver Stone and starring Aaron Johnson, Taylor Kitsch, Blake Lively, Benicio Del Toro, Salma Hayek, Uma Thurman, Emile Hirsch, Demian Bichir, Joel David Moore and John Travolta. Adam Peters has composed the film’s original score. Back Lot Music and Varese Sarabande have released a soundtrack album featuring selections from the score, as well as some of the movie’s songs by artists including Bob Dylan, Peter Tosh, Massive Attack and Thievery Corporation.
