Thomas Newman revealed at a recent event at Le Moyne and Syracuse University as part of their Film Talk Series (via The Dolphin) that he will be reteaming with Pixar on next year’s animated feature The Good Dinosaur. The movie is directed by Bob Peterson and is set in a world where the cataclysmic asteroid that changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct. Pixar and Disney Animation’s Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter and John Walker (The Incredibles) are producing the film. Peterson previously co-directed Pixar’s Up, which featured an Academy Award-winning score by Michael Giacchino. Back Lot Music will release a soundtrack album for Paul Weitz’s comedy Admission. The album features the film’s original music composed by Stephen Trask (Hedwig and the Angry Inch) who previously collaborated with the director on In Good Company, American Dreamz, Cirque du Freak and Little Fockers. Brian Tyler to Score ‘Now You See Me’

Brian Tyler has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming heist thriller Now You See Me. The movie is helmed by Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk, The Transporter) and stars Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Isla Fisher, Melanie Laurent, Woody Harrelson, Michael Kelly, Dave Franco and Common. The thriller pits an elite FBI squad in a game of cat and mouse against “The Four Horsemen,” a super-team of the world’s greatest illusionists. Boaz Yakin & Edward Ricour have written the screenplay and Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci are producing the project. The details of the soundtrack album for Rob Zombie’s horror film The Lords of Salem have been revealed. The album features the film’s original score composed by John 5 & Griffin Boyce, as well as the songs from the film by artists including Manfred Mann, Leviathan The Fleeing Serpent, Rick James, Rush and The Velvet Underground. Matthew Margeson Scoring ‘Kick-Ass 2’

According to the film’s new trailer, Matthew Margeson is scoring the upcoming superhero action comedy sequel Kick-Ass 2. The film is directed by Jeff Wadlow (Never Back Down, Cry Wolf) and stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloë Grace Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse who all return from the 2010 original film and are joined by Jim Carrey who portays Sal Bertolinni aka Colonel Stars and Stripes. Donald Faison, Clark Duke, John Leguizamo and Morris Chestnut are co-starring. Wadlow has also written the screenplay based on the characters from the comic book Hit-Girl by Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr. Matthew Vaughn who directed the first part is producing the Marv Films and Plan B production with Brad Pitt, Adam Bohling (Layer Cake), Targquin Pack and David Reid. The project will marks Margeson’s second major studio release following 2010’s Skyline. He previously served as an additional music arranger on the first Kick-Ass installment (which featured music by Henry Jackman, John Murphy, Ilan Eshkeri and Marius De Vries) and has written additional music for numerous films scored by Jackman. Evgueni and Sacha Galperine are the composers of the upcoming crime comedy Malavita. The film is directed by Luc Besson and stars Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Tommy Lee Jones, Dianna Agron and John D’Leo. The movie follows a retired mafia boss who moves to a small town in France’s Normandy with his wife and daughter as part of the witness protection program. Besson has also written the screenplay based on Tonino Benacquista’s novel Badfellas and is producting the film with his wife Virginie Besson-Silla (The Lady, Revolver) for EuropaCorp, along with Ryan Kavanaugh & Tucker Tooley (The Fighter, Limitless) for Relativity Media.
