Def Jam will release the official soundtrack album for the comedy Top Five. The album features the songs from and inspired by the movie by artists including N— In Paris by the film’s producers Jay Z & Kanye West. Also included are tracks by DMX, Public Enemy, LL Cool J, The Roots, Rakim, Salt-N-Pepa, Scarface & more. Questlove who co-scored the film with Ludwig Goransson serves as the project’s executive music producer. The soundtrack will be released on December 9, 2014. Top Five is written and directed by Chris Rock who also stars in the film alongside Rosario Dawson, Kevin Hart, Tracy Morgan, Cedric The Entertainer, JB Smoove, Sherri Shepherd, Anders Holm, Romany Malco and Leslie Jones.

‘Exodus: Gods and Kings’ Soundtrack Preview
Cinema Musica has premiered a full stream of the soundtrack album for Ridley Scott’s biblical epic Exodus: Gods and Kings. The album features the film’s original music composed by Alberto Iglesias (The Constant Gardener, Volver, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Kite Runner). Also included are three tracks written by Harry Gregson-Williams (Kingdom of Heaven), as well as several cues by Federico Jusid (The Secret in Their Eyes). Henson, Gladys Knight, Method Man, LeToya Luckett, Cleo Anthony, Richard Portnow and Rob Riley. The film’s original score is composed by Mario Grigorov (Precious, The Paperboy, Flowers in the Attic). Seasons of Love is set in New York and follows two people who struggle to find love against the odds, while reconciling with the past and learning the true value of family. ‘Asterix: The Land of the Gods’ Soundtrack Details
Cristal Records has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the 3D animated feature Asterix: The Land of the Gods (Astérix: Le domaine des dieux). The album features the film’s original music composed by Philippe Rombi (Swimming Pool, The New Girlfriend, Potiche, In the House). Also included is Johann Sebastian Bach’s Fugue No. 5 in D Minor as used in the movie. The soundtrack will be released in France on December 8, 2014. Expected to have the biggest opening of the year at the domestic box office is The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 directed by Francis Lawrence and starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Stanley Tucci, Elizabeth Banks, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Woody Harrelson. The film’s original score is composed by James Newton Howard who previously scored the first two installments in the series. Republic Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from and inspired by the film, including the original song Yellow Flicker Beat by Lorde who curated the album. Opening in limited release is the drama Reach Me written and directed by John Herzfeld and starring Sylvester Stallone, Tom Berenger, Kevin Connolly, Kyra Sedgwick, Nelly, Kelsey Grammer, Cary Elwes, Terry Crews, Ryan Kwanten and Tom Sizemore. Hans Zimmer to Score Neill Blomkamp’s ‘Chappie’
According to Hans-Zimmer.com, Hans Zimmer has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming sci-fi thriller Chappie. The film is directed by Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium) and stars Hugh Jackman, Dev Patel, Ninja and Yo-Landi Visser, Jose Pablo Cantillo, Sigourney Weaver, as well as Sharlto Copley as the voice of the title character. The movie follows a robot named Chappie who is kidnapped by two criminals and becomes the adopted son of a very strange and dysfunctional family. Blomkamp has co-writen the script with Terri Tatchell (District 9) and Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Days of Future Past, Elysium, Jumper) serves as a producer.
Trevor Morris Scoring Syfy’s ‘Ascension’
Trevor Morris is scoring the upcoming Syfy mini-series Ascension. The show is created and written by Philip Levens (Smallville) and stars Brian P. Bell, Brian Van Holt, Tricia Helfer, Andrea Roth, Tiffany Lonsdale, Ryan Robbins, Jacqueline Byers, P.J. Boudousqué and Gil Bellows. The sci-fi drama follows a covert U.S. space mission launched in the 1960’s that sent hundreds of men, women and children on a century-long voyage aboard the starship Ascension to populate a new world. Half way into their journey, the mysterious murder of a young woman causes the ship’s population to question the true nature of their mission.
‘Paddington’ Soundtrack Details
Decca Records will release a soundtrack album for the family movie Paddington. The album features the film’s original score composed by Nick Urata (Crazy, Stupid, Love, Ruby Sparks, I Love You Phillip Morris). Also included are the songs from the movie by artists including James Brown, Steppenwolf and Lionel Richie. Paddington is written and directed by Paul King and stars Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Julie Walters, Nicole Kidman, Jim Broadbent, Peter Capaldi, as well as Ben Whishaw as the voice of Paddington. The movie based on Michael Bond’s best-selling novels tells the story of the comic misadventures of a young Peruvian bear who travels to the city in search of a home.
‘Unbroken’ Soundtrack Preview
Universal Pictures has published five tracks from the original score for Angelina Jolie’s epic drama Unbroken. The film’s music is composed by Alexandre Desplat (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The King’s Speech). As reported earlier this week, Parlophone Records will release a soundtrack album featuring both Desplat’s score, as well as the original song Miracles written and performed by Coldplay. Unbroken starring Jack O’Connell, Domhnall Gleeson, Miyavi, Garrett Hedlund and Finn Wittrock will be released on December 25, 2014.
Christophe Beck Scoring ‘Peanuts’ Movie
Christophe Beck is scoring the upcoming animated feature Peanuts. The film is directed by Steve Martino (Horton Hears a Who!, Ice Age: Continental Draft) is based on the comic strip by Charles M. Schulz and marks the first CGI-animated fiom based on the property and the first feature featuring the characters in 35 years. The movie follows Snoopy who embarks upon his greatest mission as he and his team take to the skies to pursue their arch-nemesis, while his best friend Charlie Brown begins his own quest back home. Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, The Heat) is producing the Blue Sky Studios production with Bryan & Craig Schulz, Cornelius Uliano and Michael J. Travers.
