‘Planes’ Soundtrack Details

planesThe details of the soundtrack album for Disney’s animated feature Planes have been revealed. The album features the film’s original score composed by Mark Mancina (Tarzan, TwisterSpeed, Brother Bear), as well a couple of original songs by Mark Holman, Chris Classic & Alana D and Jon Stevens of The Dead Daisies. The soundtrack will be released on August 6, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check back on this page for audio clips. Planes is directed by Klay Hall and features the voice talent of Dane Cook, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Cedric the Entertainer, Val Kilmer, John Cleese, Stacy Keach, Brad Garrett, Teri Hatcher, Carlos Alazraqui, Priyanka Chopra, Roger Craig Smith, Gabriel Iglesias, Oliver Kalkofe and Sinbad. The movie about a plane with dreams of competing as a high-flying air racer and who must overcome a fear of heights will be released nationwide on August 9, 2013 by Walt Disney Pictures. mortal-instrumentsMilan Records will release a score album for the fantasy adventure The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. The soundtrack features the film’s original music composed by Atli Orvarsson (Vantage Point, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters). The album will be released on August 20, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A separate soundtrack featuring songs from and inspired by the film is expected to be released by Republic Records. Check back on this page for the full details on both albums. green-lanternLa-La Land Records will release a new soundtrack album for the animated TV show Green Lantern: The Animated Series. The album features selections from the show’s original score composed by Frederik Wiedmann. The soundtrack will be released physically tomorrow, July 2, on the label’s website and will also be available digitally. The CD version is limited to 1500 copies. The label has previously released an album featuring music from the show last summer. Check out our previous article for the full details. Green Lantern: The Animated Series based on the DC Comics character follows the adventures of Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern of Sector 2814, and his warrior ally, Kilowog in their battle against the Red Lanterns, led by the villain Atrocitus. david-tornDavid Torn has signed on to score the upcoming romantic comedy Are We Officially Dating?. The film is written and directed by Tom Gormican and stars Zac Efron, Michael B. Jordan, Miles Teller, Imogen Poots, Jessica Lucas and Josh Pais. The movie follows three guys who decide to support a friend devastated by a recent breakup by vowing to maintain their single status for as long as possible. Justin Nappi and Kevin Turen (Arbitrage, All Is Lost) are producing the project for Treehouse Pictures, along with Scott Aversano (Failure to Launch, Killers) and Andrew O’Connor (Peep Show). Torn’s previous film scoring credits as a composer include such titles as Lars and the Real Girl, The WacknessEverything Must Go and Friday Night Lights. Read the rest of this entry »

Peter Gabriel is scoring the upcoming religion-themed movie Words of Gods. The film features nine shorts from renowned international directors, including Serbia’s Emir Kusturica (Underground), Japan’s Hideo Nakata (Dark Water), Iran’s Bahman Ghobadi (Turtles Can Fly), India’s Mira Nair (Vanity Fair) and Mexico’s Guillermo Arriaga (The Burning Plain). Arriaga is also producing the project with Alex Garcia. Nobel Prize-winning author Mario Vargas Llosa serves as a creative consultant. Peter Gabriel has previously scored such films as Martin Scorsese’s The Last Temptation of Christ and Phillip Noyce’s Rabbit-Proof Fence. Read the rest of this entry »

ray-donovanPremiering tonight is the new Showtime series Ray Donovan created by Ann Biderman (Primal Fear, Southland) and starring Liev Schreiber, Jon Voight, Paula Malcomson, Eddie Marsan, Katherine Moennig, Dash Mihok, Kerris Dorsey, Pooch Hall, Steven Bauer and Devon Bagby. The show’s score is composed by Marcelo Zarvos (The Words, The Big C, The Good Shepherd). The drama follows a go-to guy who makes the problems of LA’s celebrities, superstar athletes, and business moguls disappear and experiences his own problems when his father is unexpectedly released from prison. rupert-gregson-williamsRupert Gregson-Williams is reuniting with director Frank Coraci on the upcoming romantic comedy Blended. The film stars Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore as a couple who, after disastrous blind date, are stuck together in a family resort with their children from previous marriages. Bella Thorne, Chelsea Handler, Terry Crews, Kevin Nealon and Joel McHale are co-starring. Ivan Menchell and Clare Sera wrote the screenplay. Sandler is producing the comedy with Jack Giarraputo (50 First Dates, Grown Ups) through his production company Happy Madison Productions, alongside Mike Karz (Valentine’s Day, Killers, Good Luck Chuck). Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

white-house-downOpening in most theaters is the action thriller White House Down directed by Roland Emmerich and starring Channing Tatum, Jamie Foxx, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jason Clarke, James Woods, Richard Jenkins, Joey King and Rachelle Lefevre. The film’s music is composed by Thomas Wander and Harald Kloser (2012, 10’000 B.C., The Day After Tomorrow). A soundtrack album featuring the composers’ music was released digitally today and will be coming out on CD on July 23. the-heatAlso opening wide is the buddy cop comedy The Heat directed by Paul Feig and starring Sandra Bullock, Melissa McCarthy, Demian Bichir, Marlon Wayans and Michael Rapaport. Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album earlier this week featuring the songs from the film by artists including LCD Soundsytem, Santigold, Kimbra, The Isley Brothers, Angel Haze, Parliament, Azealia Banks, Ted Nugent, Boston and Kreayshawn. inside-llewyn-davisNonesuch Records has announced a soundtrack release for the Coen Brothers’ upcoming drama Inside Llewyn Davis. The album features 12 new recordings made especially for the film performed by the movie’s cast plus an existing recording by Dave Van Ronk. Also featured is a never-before-released version of the song Farewell by Bob Dylan. T Bone Burnett produced the soundtrack with the Coen Brothers. Inside Llewyn Davis is directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, produced by Scott Rudin and the Coens and stars Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, John Goodman, Garrett Hedlund and Justin Timberlake. The film, which follows a week in the life of a young folk singer as he navigates the Greenwich Village folk scene of 1961, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last month to rave reviews and is set to be released in the US on December 6, 2013 by CBS Films. academyawardsThe Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has invited 276 artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures to join the organization. Among the invited artists this year are a number of film composers including Ramin Djawadi whose credits include Iron Man, Clash of the Titans, Safe House and the upcoming Pacific Rim, Cliff Martinez whose film projects include Contagion, Drive and Best Picture nominee Traffic, Joe Hisaishi who scored the Academy Award-winning animated film Spirited Away, Aaron Zigman who is best known for his work on such films as The Notebook, Sex and the City and Bridge to Terabithia, Henry Jackman who scored this year’s Best Animated Film nominee Wreck-It-Ralph and J. Ralph who was nominated for Best Original Song this year for his work on Chasing Ice. In addition, Prince whose work for film includes Purple Rain and Happy Feet was also invited, as well as Siedah Garrett who performed last year’s Oscar nominated song Real in Rio from Rio.
