David Ludwig Scoring Michael Almereyda’s ‘Cymbeline’

Classical music composer David Ludwig has written the original score for the upcoming drama Cymbeline. The film is directed by Michael Almereyda and stars Milla Jovovich, Ed Harris, Dakota Johnson, Penn Badgley, Anton Yelchin, Ethan Hawke, John Leguizamo and Bill Pullman. The movie is a modern take on the Shakespeare play of the same title and portrays a battle between dirty cops and a drug-dealing biker gang set against the backdrop of a corruption-riddled 21st century America. Anthony Katagas (12 Years a Slave, Killing Them Softly) is producing the project for Keep Your Head Productions alongside Michael Benaroya (Margin Call, Lawless, The Words) for Benaroya Pictures. Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the horror thriller The Damned. Guaranteed to top the weekend box office is Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close and Benicio del Toro. The film’s original music is composed by Tyler Bates (300, Watchmen). Hollywood Records has released three different soundtracks for the film, including Awesome Mix Vol. 1 feat. the songs from the film and a score album featuring Bates’ music, as well as a deluxe edition featuring both albums. Polydor/Universal Music has released a soundtrack album featuring studio and standout live versions of numerous soul/funk hits by James Brown as featured in the film. Lionsgate announced today that singer/songwriter Lorde has been chosen to curate the soundtrack album for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1. She will be hand-picking the artists for the soundtrack and will also provide the first single for the film and album. The album will be released by Republic Records this fall. The 17-year-old New Zealand native who is best known for her hit song Royals and the album Pure Heroine received two Grammy Awards earlier this year for Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance. The third installment in The Hunger Games series is directed by Francis Lawrence and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Stanley Tucci and Elizabeth Banks.
