Variety is reporting that U2’s Bono and lead guitarist The Edge are in discussions to write and perform an original song and score the drama North Star. The film directed by Jim Sheridan (My Left Foot, In the Name of the Father) is based on the filmmaker’s early life in Northern Ireland and tells the coming-of-age story of a 17-year-old who lives with his rough-around-the-edges father and younger brother and finds his world turned upside down when a teenage orphan moves in to live with them.

‘Citizen Penn’ Soundtrack Released
Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album for the documentary Citizen Penn. The album features the film’s original score composed by Linda Perry (of of the former rock band 4 Non Blondes) (Kid 90, Punky Brewster). Also included is the original song Eden (To Find Love) performed by Bono who also co-wrote the track with Perry. Linda Perry and Bono have written an original song for the upcoming documentary Citizen Penn. The track, entitled Eden: To Find Love, is performed by Bono and will be featured during the film’s end credits. Perry has also composed the original score for the movie, which is directed by Don Hardy (Pick of the Litter) and revolves around actor and filmmaker Sean Penn’s efforts following the devastating 7.0 earthquake that struck Haiti in 2010. The documentary chronicles the moment Penn arrives on the island, and the ten years since, as Penn the humanitarian carts supplies, builds tents, procures medicine, and calls on his Hollywood friends to join with financial support.
‘Waiting for the Miracle to Come’ to Feature Original Song by Bono & Willie Nelson
Bono is writing an original song to be performed by country singer Willie Nelson for the upcoming drama Waiting for the Miracle to Come. The movie marks the narrative feature directorial debut of Lian Lunson (Leonard Cohen: I’m Your Man) and also stars Nelson alongside Charlotte Rampling and Sophie Lowe. The movie follows an aspiring trapeze artist who discovers a cryptic letter her recently deceased father once wrote directing her to a gold mine in a remote California desert. Lunson’s Horse Pictures, Molly Mayeux and Terence Berry (That Evening Sun) are producing the project with Fabrica de Cine’s Gaston Pavlovich (Martin Scorsese’s upcoming Silence).
