Laura Karpman has been tapped to score the upcoming WGN America original series Underground. The show is created and written by Misha Green & Joe Pokaski and stars Christopher Meloni, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Aldis Hodge, Jessica de Gouw, Alano Miller, Adina Porter, Amirah Vann, Marc Blucas, Mykelti Williamson, Reed Diamond and Johnny Ray Gill. The drama follows a group of slaves who aim to travel 600 miles to escape from a Georgia plantation. Green and Pokaski are also executive producing the project with Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind, I Am Legend), Tory Tunnell & Joby Harold (Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur), as well as Anthony Hemingway (The Wire, Treme) who is also directing the first two episodes. Michael Kamen’s ‘The Last Boy Scout’ Score Released

La-La Land Records has announced the world premiere release of the score for Warner Bros. Pictures’ 1991 action thriller The Last Boy Scout directed by Tony Scott, produced by Joel Silver and starring Bruce Willis, Damon Wayans and Danielle Harris. The film’s original music is composed and conducted by Michael Kamen (Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, X-Men, The Iron Giant, Brazil) who previously scored the Silver-produced first installments of the Die Hard and Lethal Weapon franchises. The album, which also features a couple of unused, extended and alternate cues, is limited to 3000 copies. Alica Keys has recorded an original song for Davis Guggenheim’s upcoming documentary He Named Me Malala. The song is entitled Story to Tell and is performed by the Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter and produced by Rick Rubin. The track will be included on the official soundtrack album for the film, which also features the movie’s original score by Thomas Newman and will be released on October 2, 2015 by Sony Classical. The album features the film’s original music written by Golden Globe-nominated composer Michael Nyman (The Piano, Gattaca, The End of the Affair, Ravenous). The soundtrack will be released digitally overseas on August 31, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Ingrid Bergman in Her Own Words is directed by Stig Bjorkman and focuses on actress Ingrid Bergman (Casablanca, Notorious) through exclusive private footage, notes, letters, diaries and interviews with her children and former colleagues. Premiering tonight is the AMC original series Fear the Walking Dead starring Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis, Frank Dillane, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Elizabeth Rodriguez and Mercedes Mason. The spin-off of the hit series The Walking Dead features original music composed by Paul Haslinger (Underworld, Halt and Catch Fire, Death Race, The Three Musketeers). Rupert Gregson-Williams is set to score the upcoming Netflix original movie The Do Over. The comedy is directed by Steven Brill (Mr. Deeds, Without a Paddle, Little Nicky) and stars Adam Sandler, David Spade, Paula Patton, Nick Swardson and Luis Guzman. The film follows two down-on-their-luck guys who decide to fake their own deaths and start over with new identities, only to find the people they’re pretending to be are in even deeper trouble. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the action thriller Hitman: Agent 47 directed by Aleksander Bach and starring Rupert Friend, Hannah Ware, Zachary Quinto, Ciarán Hinds and Thomas Kretschmann. The film’s original music is composed by Marco Beltrami (World War Z, The Wolverine, Scream, The Hurt Locker). La-La Land Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music next week. Also opening wide is the action comedy American Ultra directed by Nima Nourizadeh and starring Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart, Topher Grace, Connie Britton, Tony Hale, John Leguizamo, Bill Pullman and Walton Goggins. Marcelo Zarvos (The Affair, Ray Donavan, Remember Me, Enough Said) has composed the film’s original score. No word yet on a soundtrack album. American Ultra follows a seemingly hapless and unmotivated stoner whose small-town life with his live-in girlfriend is suddenly turned upside down when he finds out that he is actually a highly trained, lethal sleeper agent.
