In addition to the nationwide expansions of Peter Berg’s Patriots Day, Ben Affleck’s Live by Night and Martin Scorsese’s Silence, three new movies are opening wide:
Opening in most theaters is the family movie Monster Trucks directed by Chris Wedge and starring Lucas Till, Jane Levy, Holt McCallany, Barry Pepper, Tucker Albrizzi, Danny Glover, Amy Ryan, Rob Lowe, Frank Whaley and Thomas Lennon. The film’s original music is composed by David Sardy (21, Zombieland, Premium Rush, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance). The movie follows a a high school senior who builds a Monster Truck from bits and pieces of scrapped cars. No soundtrack album has been announced. Also opening wide is the supernatural thriller The Bye Bye Man directed by Stacy Title and starring Carrie-Anne Moss, Faye Dunaway, Douglas Smith, Cressida Bonas, Lucien Laviscount and Douglas Jones. The Newton Brothers (Oculus, Ouija: Origin of Evil, Life of Crime) have composed the film’s original music. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score, as well as the original song Train Song feat. Richard Patrick.
