In addition to the nationwide expansions of Peter Berg’s Patriots Day, Ben Affleck’s Live by Night and Martin Scorsese’s Silence, three new movies are opening wide:

monster-trucksOpening in most theaters is the family movie Monster Trucks directed by Chris Wedge and starring Lucas Till, Jane Levy, Holt McCallany, Barry Pepper, Tucker Albrizzi, Danny Glover, Amy Ryan, Rob Lowe, Frank Whaley and Thomas Lennon. The film’s original music is composed by David Sardy (21, Zombieland, Premium Rush, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance). The movie follows a a high school senior who builds a Monster Truck from bits and pieces of scrapped cars. No soundtrack album has been announced. the-bye-bye-manAlso opening wide is the supernatural thriller The Bye Bye Man directed by Stacy Title and starring Carrie-Anne Moss, Faye Dunaway, Douglas Smith, Cressida Bonas, Lucien Laviscount and Douglas Jones. The Newton Brothers (Oculus, Ouija: Origin of Evil, Life of Crime) have composed the film’s original music. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score, as well as the original song Train Song feat. Richard Patrick. ‘Sneaky Pete’ Main Title Theme Song ‘Harder Out Here’ Released

sneaky-peteMadison Gate Records has released the main title theme song for the new Amazon original series Sneaky Pete. The track, entitled Harder Out Here, is performed by The Bright Light Social Hour. The song is now available to download on Amazon. Sneaky Pete is created by David Shore & Bryan Cranston and stars Giovanni Ribisi, Marin Ireland, Margo Martindale, Shane McRae, Libe Barer and Peter Gerety. The show follows an ex-convict conman who takes cover from his past by assuming the identity of his former cellmate, and gets roped into the family’s bail bond business. The drama’s first season premiered today and is now available to stream on Amazon.

Alex Ebert to Score Showtime’s ‘I’m Dying Up Here’

dying-up-hereAlex Ebert has been tapped to score the upcoming Showtime original series I’m Dying Up Here. The show is created by Dave Flebotte (Just Before I Go) and stars Melissa Leo, Ari Graynor, Clark Duke, Michael Angarano, Andrew Santino, Erik Griffin, RJ Cyler, Al Madrigal and Jake Lacy. The comedy based on the non-fiction book of the same title by William Knoedelseder is set in L.A.’s famed ‘70s stand-up comedy scene and follows a brassy comedy club owner who mentors up-and-coming comedians with tough love. Flebotte is also executive producing the project with Jim Carrey, Michael Aguilar (The Crazies, What Happens in Vegas) and Christina Wayne (Copper). Read the rest of this entry »

Iggy Pop’s ‘Gold’ Title Song Released

goldVarese Sarabande has released the Golden Globe-nominatd original title song for Stephen Gaghan’s drama Gold. The track is performed by Iggy Pop who also co-wrote the the song with Gaghan, Brian Burton (aka Danger Mouse) and the film’s composer Daniel Pemberton (Steve Jobs, The Man from U.N.C.L.E.). Gold is now available as a digital single and can be downloaded on Amazon. ‘T2 Trainspotting’ Soundtrack Details

trainspotting-2Interscope Records will release the official soundtrack album for Danny Boyle’s drama T2 Trainspotting. The album features the songs from the sequel to the director’s 1996 film by artists including Iggy Pop, High Contrast, Young Fathers, Wolf Alice, Blondie, Queen, Underworld, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, The Clash & more. The soundtrack will be released on January 27, 2017 and is now available as an import on Amazon. T2: Trainspotting reunites Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours, Steve Jobs) with cast members Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle. Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross Scoring PBS’ ‘The Vietnam War’

reznor-rossPBS announced today that Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are composing the music for the upcoming docu-series The Vietnam War. The 10-parter directed by Ken Burns (Brooklyn Bridge, The Statue of Liberty) and Lynn Novick (Frank Llyod Wright) also features new music arranged and performed by cellist Yo-Yo Ma and The Silk Road Ensemble. Additional music in the show was composed by David Cieri and Doug Wamble, both of whom are longtime collaborators with Florentine Films. Also featured in the series are more than 120 popular songs by artists including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Simon & Garfunkel, Janis Joplin, Ben E. Burt Bacharach’s ‘Po’ Soundtrack to Be Released

poVarese Sarabande has announced the official soundtrack album for the drama Po. The album features the film’s original score composed by Academy Award and Grammy Award winner Burt Bacharach, as well as the original song Dancing With Your Shadow, composed by Bacharach and featuring lyrics by Billy Mann, and performed by Sheryl Crow. Listen to the song after the jump. Also included is additional music by Joseph Bauer. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, January 13 and will be available to download on Amazon. Po is directed by John Asher and stars Christopher Gorham, Julian Feder and Kaitlin Doubleday. Soundtrack for ITV’s & PBS’ Victoria’ Released

victoriaDubois Records has released a soundtrack album for the ITV limited series Victoria. The album features the show’s original music composed by Martin Phipps (Woman in Gold, War and Peace, The Keeping Room, Peaky Blinders) and Ruth Barrett (Harry Brown, City of Tiny Lights, Hunted) with vocals from the Mediaeval Baebes choir. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Victoria is created by novelist Daisy Goodwin and stars Jenna Coleman, Rufus Sewell, Alex Jennings, Paul Rhys, Tom Hughes and Peter Firth. Netflix Premieres ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’ Theme Song

unfortunate-eventsNetflix has published the main titles sequence for its new original series A Series of Unfortunate Events. The title song is performed by Neil Patrick Harris, written by Nick Urata and features lyrics by Daniel Handler aka Lemony Snicket. Check out the full titles sequence after the jump. James Newton Howard has composed the music for the show’s first episodes and Chris Bacon is credited as the composer on several subsequent episodes. Urata was originally set to score the full season as reported last year. A Series of Unfortunate Events is based on the book series by Snicket and stars Neil Patrick Harris, Malina Weissman, Louis Hynes, Aasif Mandvi, K. ‘The Man in the High Castle’ Seasons 1 & 2 Soundtrack Details

high-castleThe details of the 2-CD soundtrack album for the Amazon original series The Man in the High Castle have been revealed. The album features selections of the show’s original music from the first season composed by Henry Jackman (Captain America: The Winter Soldier & Civil War, Wreck-It-Ralph, Big Hero 6, X-Men: First Class) and Dominic Lewis (Free Birds, Money Monster) on the first disc and music from the second season by Lewis on the second disc. The 2-CD set will be released on February 24, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon.
