Jon Ekstrand has been tapped to score the upcoming comic book movie Morbius. The film is directed by Daniel Espinosa (Safe House) and stars Jared Leto, Adria Arjona, Matt Smith, Jared Harris and Tyrese Gibson. The movie is based on the Marvel Comics character created by Roy Thomas & Gil Kane and centers on biochemist Michael Morbius as he tries to cure himself of a rare blood disease and inadvertently infects himself with a form of vampirism instead. A soundtrack album will be released for the documentary Skid Row Marathon. The album features the film’s original music composed by Kim Planert (A Reason, Missing). The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 14 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Skid Row Marathon is directed by Mark Hayes and centers on a judge who organizes a running club comprised of homeless, recovering alcoholic and paroled men and women on LA’s Skid Row who seek to rediscover their sense of self-worth and dignity. The documentary was shown at numerous film festivals over the last two years and will be released in theaters as a one-night-only screening on October 14 by Fathom Events. Hippocampus has released a soundtrack album for the Algerian drama Papicha. The album features the film’s original music composed by Rob (aka Robin Coudert) (Maniac, Revenge, Horns, Troy: Fall of a City, Planetarium). Papicha is directed by Mounia Meddour and stars Lyna Khoudri, Shirine Boutella, Amira Hilda Douaouda, Zahra Doumandji, Yasin Houicha, Nadia Kaci and Meryem Medjkane.
