Kormac Scoring BBC’s ‘This Town’

Kormac (The Diplomat, Professionals, Tarrac, Red Election) has composed the original score for the new BBC drama This Town. The show is created by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders, Eastern Promises) and stars Michelle Dockery, Nicholas Pinnock, Levi Brown, David Dawson, Ben Rose, Jordan Bolger and Eve Austin. The 6-part series directed by Paul Whittington tells the story of an extended family and a group of young people who are drawn into an explosive music scene in the Midlands in the early 1980s. Octopus Records has released the first soundtrack album for the Italian Sky original series Call My Agent – Italia. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Fabio Amurri (Within Sand, Baphomet). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and most other major digital music services. Also listen the composer’s title track after the jump. Call My Agent – Italia is written by Lisa Nur Sultan based on the French series of the same title created by Fanny Herrero, directed by Luca Ribuoli and stars Michele Di Mauro, Sara Drago, Maurizio Lastrico and Marzia Ubaldi. Premiering on Tuesday, March 26, is the HBO original documentary The Truth vs. Alex Jones directed by Dan Reed and executive produced by Nancy Abraham and Lisa Heller. The film’s original music is composed by David Schweitzer (Emma, Our Great National ParksThe Afterparty, Sanditon, Trust No One: The Hunt for the Crypto King, The Reluctant Traveler). The movie, which tells  the story of how families whose children were murdered at Sandy Hook took on conspiracy giant Alex Jones in two courtroom trials, holding Jones and InfoWars to account for the myths they started spreading hours after the atrocity, premiered at this year’s SXSW Film Festival and will premiere on HBO and will also be available to stream on Max.

Premiering on Thursday, March 28, is the Swedish Netflix original series Ronja the Robber’s Daughter (Ronja Rövardotter) written by Hans Rosenfeldt based on Astrid Lindgren’s fantasy tale and starring Kerstin Linden, Jack Bergenholtz-Henriksson, Krista Kosonen, Christopher Wagelin, Maria Nohra, Sverrir Gudnason, Pernilla August, Johan Ulveson and Vera Vitali. Johan Söderqvist (Let the Right One In, Kon-Tiki, Madame WebAnatomy of a Scandal, Battlefield VAfter the WeddingIn a Better World)  has composed the show’s original music. Netflix Music has released a soundtrack album for the Turkish Netflix limited series Who Were We Running From?. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Ahmet Kenan Bilgiç (Butterflies, Limonata, Draupadi Unleashed) & Can Saka (Yakamoz S-245, Overnight Republic). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Also listen to the composers’ main theme below. Who Were We Running From? is developed by Ertan Kurtulan based on the novel of the same title by Perihan Mağden and stars Melisa Sözen, Eylül Tumbar, Başak Daşman, Musa Uzunlar, Birand Tunca, Alper Çankaya and Hakan Emre Ünal. The 7-part crime thriller revolves around a mother who is hiding a mysterious past and lives like a nameless fugitive with her daughter as they make hotels their home and see everyone else as a threat. Dragon’s Domain Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for the 1986 television movie Samaritan: The Mitch Snyder Story directed by Richard T. Heffron and starring Martin Sheen, Roxanne Hart and Cicely Tyson. The album features the film’s original music composed by Craig Safan (The Last StarfighterStand and Deliver, A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master, Cheers, Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins). The soundtrack is now available to order as a CD-R on the label’s official website, where you can also check out audio samples and find out more about the release. Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the supernatural horror comedy Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire directed by Gil Kenan and starring Paul Rudd, Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon, Mckenna Grace, Kumail Nanjiani, Celeste O’Connor, Logan Kim, Patton Oswalt, Bill Murray,Dan Aykroyd, Annie Potts and Ernie Hudson. The film’s original music is composed by Dario Marianelli (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, Darkest Hour, Paddington 2, Anna Karenina, V for Vendetta). Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Also opening wide is the psychological horror movie Immaculate directed by Michael Mohan and starring Sydney Sweeney, Simona Tabasco, Benedetta Porcaroli, Alvaro Morte and Dora Romano. Dragon’s Domain Records has announced the world premiere release of two early scores composed by Academy Award winner Elmer Bernstein (The Magnificent SevenTo Kill a Mockingbird, Far from Heaven, GhostbustersAirplane, Animal House, Stripes) as part of The Golden Age of Science Fiction – Vol. 3. The album features the composer’s music from the 1953 sci-fi horror movie Robot Monster directed by Phil Tucker and starring George Nader, Claudia Barrett & George Barrows and the 1953 sci-fi feature Cat-Women of the Moon directed by Arthur Hilton and starring Sonny Tufts, Victor Jory & Marie Windsor. Also included is the original score from David MacDonald’s 1954 sci-fi film Devil Girl from Mars starring Patricia Laffan, Hugh McDermott, Hazel Court & Peter Reynolds composed by Edwin Astley (The Saint, Danger Man). Lakeshore Records will release the official soundtrack albums for the Paramount+ original series ARK: The Animated Series. The albums feature the show’s original music composed by Gareth Coker (Ori and the Blind Forest, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Halo Infinite, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown). The Volume 1 album will be released digitally next Friday, March 29 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. ARK: The Animated Series is based on the Coker-scored hit adventure video game ARK: Survival Evolved and features the voices of Michelle Yeoh, Russell Crowe, Gerard Butler, Jeffrey Wright, David Tennant, Elliot Page, Madeleine Madden and Vin Diesel. The Lost Continent Entertainment and Lex + Otis production follows a 21st century paleontologist who finds herself resurrected on a primeval island populated by prehistoric beasts and must learn to survive with new allies from throughout time, while trying to uncover the true nature of their strange new world. Portman has also contributed the main title theme to the show developed by Erica Lipez (Julia) based on Georgia Hunter’s New York Times bestselling novel of the same title and starring Joey King, Logan Lerman, Hadas Yaron, Amit Rahav, Henry-Lloyd Hughes, Sam Woolf, Moran Rosenblatt, Michael Aloni, Eva Feiler, Lior Ashkenazi and Robin Weigert.
