Henry Jackman is composing the score for the upcoming sci-fi comedy Pixels. The film is directed by Chris Columbus and stars Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Michelle Monaghan, Josh Gad, Peter Dinklage, Brian Cox and Ashley Benson. The movie centers on aliens misinterpreting video feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war against them, leading to an attack on Earth. Tim Herlihy (The Wedding Ringer, Bedtime Stories) and Timothy Dowling (Role Models, Just Go With It) have written the screenplay based on a story by Herlihy. Sandler & Allen Covert are producing the project for Happy Madison, along with Columbus, Michael Barnathan (The Help, Night at the Museum) and Mark Radcliffe (Harry Potter series, Mrs. Doubtfire) for 1492 Pictures.

Evgueni & Sacha Galperine Scoring Courtney Hunt’s ‘The Whole Truth’
Evgueni and Sacha Galperine are currently composing the music for the upcoming thriller The Whole Truth. The film is directed by Courtney Hunt (Frozen River) and stars Keanu Reeves, Renee Zellweger, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Jim Belushi and Gabriel Basso. The movie follows a defense attorney who fights to get his teenage client acquitted of murdering his wealthy father. Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Nicholas Kazan (Reversal of Fortune, Matilda, Bicentennial Man) has penned the screenplay. Anthony Bregman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Foxcatcher, Begin Again) is producing the project for Likely Story, alongside Kevin Frakes (Laggies) for PalmStar Entertainment.
‘Frozen Fever’ to Feature Music by Christophe Beck
Christophe Beck is currently recording the score for Walt Disney Animation Studios’ upcoming short Frozen Fever. The film is directed by Jennifer Lee (Wreck-It-Ralph) & Chris Buck (Tarzan) who previously collaborated with Beck on 2013’s hit feature. The movie features the voices of Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad and takes place on Anna’s birthday, for which Elsa and Kristoff are determined to give her the best celebration ever. Peter Del Vecho (Frozen, The Princess and the Frog) is producing the short. As previously reported, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Bobby Lopez have written a new original song for the project.
Mason Bates Scoring Gus Van Sant’s ‘The Sea of Trees’
Mason Bates has recently recorded his first film score for the upcoming drama The Sea of Trees. The film is directed by Gus Van Sant and stars Matthew McConaughey, Ken Watanabe, Naomi Watts and Jordan Gavaris. The movie follows two men on a journey of reflection and survival in the Aokigahara, a mysterious dense forest at the base of Japan’s Mount Fuji where a reportedly large amount of suicides occur. Chris Sparling (Buried, ATM) has written the screenplay and is also producing the project with Van Sant, Gil Netter (Life of Pi), Ken Kao (Rampart), Kevin Halloran, F. Gary Gray (Law Abiding Citizen, The Italian Job), Brian Dobbins and Allen Fischer. Bates is best known as a composer of symphonic music, which he often combines with harmonies of jazz and electronic music.
Jeff Cardoni to Score Bob Nelson’s ‘The Confirmation’
Jeff Cardoni has been hired to score the upcoming drama The Confirmation. The movie marks the directorial debut of Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Bob Nelson (Nebraska) and stars Clive Owen, Jaeden Lieberher, Maria Bello, Patton Oswalt, Tim Blake Nelson, Robert Forster, Matthew Modine and Stephen Tobolowsky. The film follows an 8-year-old boy and his estranged father who are two days together for the first time in forever, as the boy’s mom and new husband head off to a religious retreat. Nelson has also written the screenplay and is producing the project with Todd Hoffman (Love Stinks, Labor Pains).
Zbigniew Preisner Scoring ‘Angelica’
Zbigniew Preisner has composed the music for the upcoming psychological thriller Angelica. The film is written and directed by Mitchell Lichtenstein (Teeth, Happy Tears) and stars Jena Malone, Janet McTeer, Ed Stoppard, Tovah Feldshuh and Eliza Holland Madore. The movie based on the novel of the same title by Arthur Phillips is set in 1880 London and follows a young shop girl whose dream marriage to a medical researcher turns into a nightmare after puritanical doctors order the couple to a regime of abstinence and a ghostly force enters their home. Joyce Pierpoline is producing the project for Pierpoline Films along with Richard Lormand.
David Hirschfelder to Score Fred Schepisi’s ‘The Olive Sisters’
David Hirschfelder is attached to score the upcoming romantic drama The Olive Sisters. The film is directed by Fred Schepisi (Roxanne, The Russia House, Six Degrees of Separation) and stars Simon Baker, Leslie Mann, Anthony LaPaglia, Jacki Weaver, Melissa George, Gia Carides, Josh Lucas and Alexandra Schepisi. The movie is based on Amanda Hampson’s bestselling novel of the same title and follows a successful New York businesswoman whose life falls apart and is forced to move to the small rural community of Duffy’s Creek, Australia and the run-down olive grove she has inherited from her grandparents.
Owen Pallett Scoring Anton Corbijn’s ‘Life’
Owen Pallett is composing the music for the upcoming drama Life. The film is directed by Anton Corbijn (Control) and stars Robert Pattinson, Dane DeHaan, Joel Edgerton and Ben Kingsley. The movie is inspired by the true story of a friendship that developed between Magnum photographer Dennis Stock and actor James Dean when Stock was commissioned to photograph the actor for LIFE magazine in 1955. Luke Davies (Candy, Reclaim) has written the screenplay. Christina Piovesan (The Whistleblower, Amreeka), Benito Mueller, Wolfgang Mueller, Iain Canning & Emile Sherman (he King’s Speech, Shame) are producing the project.
Scott Glasgow to Score ‘The Curse of Sleeping Beauty’
Director Pearry Teo announced on Twitter that Scott Glasgow is set to score the upcoming fantasy thriller The Curse of Sleeping Beauty. The film is written and directed by Teo and stars India Eisley, Zack Ward, Ethan Peck, Bruce Davison and Natalie Hall. The movie is based on the classic Brother Grimm fairy tale and follows a man who inherits an ancestral mansion that has been in his family for generations, only to learn that he has also inherited an ancient curse stemming back to the Crusades. He teams with an ambitious local realtor and paranormal cleric to unravel the mystery of the house, while struggling to awaken a beautiful woman, held captive in a terrifying netherworld seen previously in his dreams. Teo is also producing the project with Bleiberg Entertainment’s Ehud Bleiberg (The Iceman, McCanick, The Band’s Visit).
‘Dark Places’ to Feature Music by BT
BT announced on Twitter that he has composed music for the upcoming mystery thriller Dark Places. The movie is written and directed by Gilles Paquet-Brenner (Sarah’s Key) and stars Charlize Theron, Chloe Grace Moretz, Nicholas Hoult, Christina Hendricks, Corey Stoll, Tye Sheridan Drea DeMatteo, Andrea Roth and Sterling Jerins. The film is based on a novel by Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl) and follows a woman who survived the massacre of her family as a young girl and testified against her brother and is confronted by a secret society obsessed with solving notorious crimes 25 years later. Cathy Schulman (Crash, The Illusionist), Matthew Rhodes (Southland Tales, Passengers), Matt Jackson (End of Watch, Snitch), Stephane Marsil (Adventures of Arsene Lupin), Beth Kono & AJ Dix (The Butterfly Effect, Sleepwalking) are producing the project.
