Composer Jon Ekstrand is set to reteam with director Daniel Espinosa on the upcoming refugee drama Madame Luna. The film chronicles the true story of an Eritrean refugee girl, washed ashore in Libya, who becomes one of the most notorious of human traffickers with deep ties to the Italian Mafia. Casting announcements are expected within the next few months. Maurizio Braucci (Gomorrah, Martin Eden, Piranha) and Suha Arraf (Lemon Tree) wrote the screenplay based on an idea by Binyam Berhane.

The film is directed by Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan, Requiem for a Dream, The Wrestler) and stars Brendan Fraser, Sadie Sink, Samantha Morton, Hong Chau and Ty Simpkins. The movie is Samuel D. Hunter’s play of the same name and centers on a reclusive English teacher suffering from severe obesity and his attempts to reconnect with his 17-year-old daughter.
Sean Ellis’ ‘The Cursed’ to Feature Updated Score by Lorne Balfe
LD Entertainment and director Sean Ellis announced today that Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Black Widow, His Dark Materials, The Wheel of Time, The Lego Batman Movie, Bad Boys for Life) has contributed an updated score to the gothic thriller The Cursed. The film, which premiered at last year’s Sundance Film Festival under the title Eight for Silver with an original score by Robin Foster, is written and directed by Ellis (Cashback, The Broken) and stars Boyd Holbrook, Kelly Reilly, Alistair Petrie, Roxane Duran and Áine Rose Daly. The movie is set in the late 1800s and follows a man who arrives in a remote country village to investigate an attack by a wild animal but discovers a much deeper and sinister force that has the manor and its townspeople in its grip.
Michael Giacchino Scoring Pixar’s ‘Lightyear’
Michael Giacchino (Spider-Man: No Way Home, Lost, Jurassic World, Star Trek, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Doctor Strange, War for the Planet of the Apes) has recently been scoring Pixar Animation Studios’ upcoming feature Lightyear. The film is directed by Angus MacLane and stars Chris Evans in the title role. The sci-fi action adventure tells the origin story of Buzz Lightyear – the hero who inspired the toy – introducing the legendary Space Ranger who would win generations of fans. Galyn Susman (Toy Story 4) is producing the project.
Michael Andrews Scoring Judd Apatow’s ‘The Bubble’
Composer Michael Andrews (Donnie Darko, Neighbors, Daddy’s Home, Me and You and Everyone We Know, Bad Teacher, Instant Family) is reuniting with director Judd Apatow (The 40-Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Trainwreck) on the upcoming Netflix original film The Bubble. The movie’s ensemble cast includes Karen Gillan, Iris Apatow, Fred Armisen, Maria Bakalova, Keegan-Michael Key, David Duchovny, Leslie Mann, Peter Serafinowicz and Pedro Pascal. Andrew Bird (Norman, Outside In) has also contributed original music to the comedy, which revolves around a group of actors and actresses stuck inside a pandemic bubble at a hotel attempting to complete a film.
