Columbia Records has announced a soundtrack album for Zach Braff’s indie comedy drama Wish I Was Here. The album features exclusive new songs from The Shins, Bon Iver and Cat Power + Coldplay. Also featured are tracks by Baldy Drawn Boy, Paul Simon, Gary Jules, Allie Moss & more. The soundtrack will be released digitally and physically on July 15, 2014. A special 12″ double gatefold, 180 gram vinyl version will be released on August 5. Click here to pre-order the vinyl version. Wish I Was Here is written and directed by Braff who also stars in the film alongside Kate Hudson, Joey King, Jim Parsons, Ashley Green, Mandy Patinkin and Josh Gad. The Kickstarter-funded movie scored by Rob Simonsen tells the story of a thirtysomething man who finds himself at major crossroads, which forces him to examine his life, his career, and his family. The dramedy premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and will be released in theaters on July 18 by Focus Features.

‘Tammy’ Soundtrack Announced
WaterTower Music will release a soundtrack album for the comedy Tammy. The album features the film’s original music composed by Michael Andrews (Bridesmaids, Neighbors, Bad Teacher, Donnie Darko). Also included are two songs by Possum Creek. The soundtrack will be released on July 1, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips are available after the jump. Tammy is directed by Ben Falcone and stars Melissa McCarthy, Susan Sarandon, Allison Janney, Gary Cole, Mark Duplass, Dan Aykroyd, Kathy Bates, Toni Collette and Nat Faxon. The movie follows a woman who after losing her job and learning that her husband has been unfaithful, hits the road with her profane, hard-drinking grandmother. McCarthy has also co-written the screenplay with Falcone. The comedy will be released nationwide on July 2 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
‘I Origins’ Soundtrack Details
Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for Mike Cahill’s indie sci-fi drama I Origins. The album features the film’s original music composed by Will Bates and Phil Mossman who previously scored the director’s first feature Another Earth as part of Fall On Your Sword. Also included are tracks by Radiohead, The Do and Phaedeon Papadopoulus. The soundtrack will be released on July 15, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. I Origins is written and directed by Cahill and stars Michael Pitt, Brit Marling, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Steven Yeun and Archie Panjabi. The movie follows a molecular biologist studying the evolution of the eye who finds his work permeating his life after a brief encounter with an exotic young woman who slips away from him.
‘The Case Against 8’ Soundtrack Released
Cow on the Wall Records has released a soundtrack album for the documentary The Case Against 8. The album features the film’s original music composed by Blake Neely (Arrow, Resurrection, The Mentalist, Life As We Know It). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. The Case Against 8 is directed by Ben Cotner & Ryan White and takes an inside look at the groundbreaking Supreme Court case that overturned Proposition 8, California’s ban on same-sex marriage. The documentary premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival where it won the Best Directing Award and was also shown at the SXSW Film Festival where it received the 2014 Audience Award. The movie was released in select theaters earlier this month and will air on June 23 on HBO.
‘The Internet’s Own Boy’ Soundtrack Announced
Tone Tiger will release a soundtrack album for the documentary The Internet’s Own Boy: The Story of Aaron Swartz. The album features the film’s original music composed by John Dragonetti (We Are Legions: The Story of the Activists, Father of the Pride). The soundtrack will be released on June 24, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips are available after the jump. The Internet’s Own Boy is directed by Brian Knappenberger and tells the story of programming prodigy and information activist Aaron Swartz, the co-founder of Reddit whose work in social justice and political organizing combined with his aggressive approach to information access that ensnared him in a two year legal battle with the Federal government. The documentary premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Fesival and will be released in select theaters on VOD on June 27 by Participant Media and FilmBuff.
‘Boyhood’ Soundtrack Details
Nonesuch Records will release a soundtrack album for Richard Linklater’s indie drama Boyhood. The album features the songs from the film by artists including Coldplay, Vampire Weekend, Bob Dylan, Gnarls Barkley, The Flaming Hips, Arcade Fire, Wilco, The Black Keys, Jeff Tweedy, The Hives, Cat Power, Paul McCartnet & Wings and more. The soundtrack will be released on July 8, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Boyhood is written and directed by Richard Linklater and stars Patricia Arquette, Ellar Coltrane, Lorelei Linklater and Ethan Hawke. The movie was filmed over 12 years with the same cast and tells a story through the eyes of a child named Maso who literally grows up on screen before our eyes. The drama premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and was picked up by IFC Films for a theatrical release on July 11.
‘Witching & Bitching’ Soundtrack Released
A soundtrack album has been released for the Spanish horror comedy Witching & Bitching. The album features the film’s original music composed by Joan Valent (As Luck Would Have It). Witching & Bitching is directed by Alex de la Iglesia (The Oxford Murders) and stars Hugo Silva, Mario Casas, Carmen Maura and Pepón Nieto. The movie follows a group of flesh-eating witches who meet their match when a group of hapless thieves stumble upon a mysterious mansion. The comedy premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival as the closing night film at Midnight Madness and was picked up by IFC Midnight for a domestic release in select theaters and on VOD this Friday, June 13.
Complete ‘Deep Rising’ Score by Jerry Goldsmith to Be Released
Intrada Records has announced the world premiere release of the complete score for the 1998 the horror thriller Deep Rising directed by Stephen Sommers and starring Treat Williams, Famke Janssen, Wes Studi and Djimon Hounsou. Paraphrasing composer. The film’s music is composed and conducted by Jerry Goldsmith (Planet of the Apes, Patton, The Omen, Alien, Star Trek: The Motion Picture) who would later on score the director’s hit adventure movie The Mummy. The album features around 30 minutes of previously unreleased music from the film, as well as an unused opening sequence as originally scored by composer. Adam Levine’s label 222 Records has announced a partnership with Interscope Records to release the official soundtrack album for the comedy drama Begin Again. The album features the songs from the film co-written by Gregg Alexander, Danielle Brisebois, Nick Lashley, Nick Southwood, Rick Nowels, John Carney and Glen Hansard and performed by the film’s cast. The soundtrack will be released on July 1, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Begin Again written and directed by John Carney (Once) stars Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo, Adam Levine, Hailee Steinfeld, James Corden, Ceelo Green and Catherine Keener. The movie follows a songwriter who comes to the States with her singer boyfriend, only to catch him philandering with a record company executive. The dramedy produced by Anthony Bregman, Tobin Armbrust and Judd Apatow premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and will be released in select theaters on June 27, 2014 by the Weinstein Company.
