Christopher Lennertz has signed on to score the upcoming action comedy Identity Thief (aka Identity Theft). The movie is directed by Seth Gordon who previously collaborated with the composer on last summer’s comedy hit Horrible Bosses. Identity Thief stars Melissa McCarthy who steals the identity of a man played by Jason Bateman. Steven Conrad (The Pursuit of Happyness, The Weather Man) has written the script and Craig Mazin (The Hangover II) is performing a rewrite. Bateman is also producing the film with Scott Stuber (Safe House, Role Models) and Peter Morgan (The Queen, Frost/Nixon) is executive producing. Universal Pictures has scheduled the comedy for a release on May 10, 2013.
Lennertz has also been hired to score Revolution, one of the most talked about pilots for next TV season. The show is created by Eric Kripke who has been working with the composer for the past seven years on the hit show Supernatural. Revolution is produced by J.J. Abrams and his production company Bad Robot. Bryan Burk (Lost, Star Trek) is also involved as an executive producer. The show starring Giancarlo Esposito, Billy Burke, Tim Guinee and Andrea Roth follows a group of people struggling to survive and reunite with loved ones in a world where all forms of energy have mysteriously ceased to exist. Jon Favreau (Iron Man) is directing the pilot. If picked up, the Warner Bros. Television production is expected to air this fall on NBC.
The composer’s other upcoming projects include Tim Story’s Think Like a Man, Girl in Progress and As Cool as I Am.
