Opening on VOD today is the thriller The Quarry co-written and directed by Scott Teems and starring Shea Whigham, Michael Shannon, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Bobby Soto and Bruno Bichir. The film’s original music is composed by Heather McIntosh (Compliance, Z for Zachariah, The Art of Self-Defense, 6 Balloons). A soundtrack album will be announced soon. The movie, which is based on a novel by Damon Galgut and centers on a fugitive drifter who – after murdering a traveling preacher – travels to a small town and poses as the man he killed, is being released by Lionsgate.
Also opening on VOD today is the comedy Bad Therapy directed by Bill Teitler and starring Alicia Silverstone, Rob Corddry, Michaela Watkins, Haley Joel Osment, Aisha Tyler, Sarah Shahi and David Paymer. Nathan Larson (Boys Don’t Cry, Dirty Pretty Things, Margin Call, Juliet, Naked) has composed the film’s original score. No soundtrack album has been announced. The move, which follows a couple who see a marriage counselor to improve their relationship, which brings their marriage to the breaking point, is being distributed by Gravitas Ventures.
Another movie being released on VOD today is the horror thriller Behind You written and directed by Andrew Mecham & Matthew Whedon and starring Addy Miller, Elizabeth Birkner, Philip Brodie and Jan Broberg. The film’s original music is composed Christian Davis (Dwight and Shining Armor, The Other Side of Heaven 2: Fire of Faith, Christmas Eve). Bad Haircut Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score next Tuesday, April 21.
