Two new movies are opening nationwide this week:
Opening in most theaters is the mystery thriller Glass written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan and starring James McAvoy, Bruce Willis, Anya Taylor-Joy, Sarah Paulson, Samuel L. Jackson, Spencer Treat Clark and Charlayne Woodard. The film’s original music is composed by West Dylan Thordson (Split, Joy, 3 Generations). Already playing in theaters nationwide since this past Wednesday is the Japanese anime movie Dragon Ball Super: Broly directed by Tatsuya Nagamine and written by Akira Toriyama. Norihito Sumitomo (Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods & Resurrection ‘F’) has composed the film’s original music. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score has been released in Japan. Daichi Miura has contributed the film’s theme song Blizzard. The movie is being released in the U.S. by FUNimation.
Opening in limited release is the indie drama An Acceptable Loss written and directed by Joe Chappelle and starring Tika Sumpter, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ben Tavassoli, Deanna Dunagan, Alysia Reiner, Clarke Peters, David Eigenberg, Jeff Hephner, Rex Linn and Alex Weisman. Also opening in limited release is the indie drama Don’t Come Back from the Moon co-written and directed by Bruce Thierry Cheung and starring James Franco, Rashida Jones, Jeffrey Wahlberg, Alyssa Elle Steinacker, Robert Scott Crane, Cheyenne Haynes, Hale Lytle, Zackary Arthur and Jeremiah Noe. Johnny Jewel (Bronson, Lost River, Those Who Kill) has composed the film’s original music. Italians Do It Better has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as tracks by his bands last week. Click here for the full album details.
Also opening in select cities is the indie comedy Egg directed by Marianna Palka and starring Christina Hendricks, Alysia Reiner, David Alan Basche, Gbenga Akkinabe and Anna Camp. The film’s original music is composed by WAZ-Jackson (Cougar Town, Surviving Jack, Life Sentence). No soundtrack album has been announced. The movie, which premiered at last year’s Tribeca Film Festival is being released by Gravitas Ventures and is now also available on VOD.
Also opening in select theaters is the indie drama All These Small Moments written and directed by Melissa B. Miller Costanzo and stars Molly Ringwald, Brian d’Arcy James, Brendan Meyer, Sam McCarthy, Harley Quinn Smith and Jemima Kirke. Dan Lipton has composed the film’s original music. Mother West Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as songs by Michael Flynn & Slow Runner, Jaymay, Echo Courts & others.
