Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the comedy I Feel Pretty directed by Abby Kohn & Marc Silverstein and starring Amy Schumer, Michelle Williams, Rory Scovel, Emily Ratajkowski, Aidy Bryant, Busy Phillips and Tom Hopper. The film’s original music is composed by Michael Andrews (Bridesmaids, Neighbors, Funny People). Sony Masterworks has released a soundtrack album featuring three tracks from the composer’s score, as well as songs by Maroon 5, Meghan Trainor, Santigold & others. Also opening wide is the comedy sequel Super Troopers 2 directed by Jay Chandrasekhar and starring Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, Erik Stohlhanke, Linda Carter, Rob Lowe, Fred Savage, Brian Cox, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Will Sasso, Tyler Labine and Hayes MacArthur. Eagles of Death Metal have composed the film’s original music. Universal Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the band’s score, as well as songs by Natural Child, Naked Giants, Folk Uke & others. Also opening nationwide is the thriller Traffik written and directed by Deon Taylor and starring Paula Patton, Omar Epps, Roselyn Sanchez and Laz Alonso. The film’s original music is composed by Geoff Zanelli (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Disturbia, Secret Window, Hitman). No word yet on a soundtrack release. Opening in limited release is the supernatural thriller Ghost Stories directed by Jeremy Dyson & Andy Nyman and starring Martin Freeman, Andy Nyman, Paul Whitehouse and Alex Lawther. Frank Ilfman (Big Bad Wolves, The Etruscan Smile) has composed the film’s original music. Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Also opening in limited release is the documentary Love & Bananas: An Elephant Story directed by Ashley Bell about a mission to rescue a 70-year-old partially blind trekking elephant and bring her to freedom. Ian Hultquist (Assassination Nation, Animals, My Blind Brother) & Sofia Hultquist (The First Monday in May) have composed the film’s original music. Also opening in select U.S. theaters this weekend is the Indian drama Beyond the Clouds directed by Majid Majidi and starring Ishaan Khatter and Malavika Mohanan. The film’s original music is composed by A.R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours, Couples Retreat, The Hundred-Foot Journey, Million Dollar Arm). Also opening in select cities is the indie drama Little Pink House.written and directed by Courtney Moorehead Balaker and starring Catherine Keener, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Callum Keith Rennie and Giacomo Baessato. Opening in select theaters while also premiering on Netflix today is the comedy drama Kodachrome directed by Mark Raso and starring Jason Sudeikis, Ed Harris, Elizabeth Olsen, Bruce Greenwood and Dennis Haysbert. The film’s original music is composed by Agatha Kaspar (Copenhagen).
