Premiering today is the MGM+ original series The Institute developed by Benjamin Cavell based on Stephen King’s novel of the same title and starring Mary-Louise Parker, Ben Barnes, Joe Freeman, Fionn Laird, Hannah Galway, Simone Miller, Martin Roach, Julian Richings and Robert Joy. The show’s original music is composed by Mark Korven (The Witch, The Lighthouse, The First Omen, The Black Phone, Cube, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, The Peripheral). The Lumineers have recorded a new version of Tears for Fears’ Shout as the opening titles theme. Making its linear premiere tonight is the Showtime original series Dexter: Resurrection developed by Clyde Phillips and starring Michel C. Hall, Uma Thurman, David Zayas, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Jack Alcott, Kadia Saraf, Emilia Suárez, Dominic Fumusa, James Remar and Peter Dinklage. Pat Irwin (Nurse Jackie, But I’m a Cheerleader, The Good Cop, Feed the Beast, Bored to Death) who previously scored 2021’s Dexter: New Blood and last year’s Dexter: Original Sin has composed the show’s original music. The crime drama, which takes place two weeks after and continues to events of New Blood, premiered this past Friday on Paramount+ with Showtime and will air every Sunday night on Showtime.
Premiering on Friday, July 18, is the Apple TV+ animated musical special Snoopy Presents: A Summer Musical directed by Erik Wiese and written by Craig Schulz, Bryan Schulz & Cornelius Uliano. The Snoopy Show, Snoopy in Space & Camp Snoopy composer Jeff Morrow (Snow White, A Christmas Story Christmas, Science Fair, Olaf’s Frozen Adventure) and singer/songwriter Ben Folds have written the original songs for the project.
