PBS announced this week that Johnny Gandelsman, Rhiannon Giddens, Jennifer Kreisberg, David Cieri, Yo-Yo Ma and Richard Evans are contributing music to the upcoming documentary series The American Revolution. The show directed and produced by Ken Burns (Brooklyn Bridge, The Vietnam War, The Statue of Liberty), Sarah Botstein (The U.S. and the Holocaust) & David Schmidt, written by long-time collaborator Geoffrey C. Ward and examines how America’s creation turned the world upside-down. The 6-parter is narrated by Peter Coyote and includes the first-person voices of nearly 200 individual historic figures, read by a cast of actors, including Kenneth Branagh, Josh Brolin, Hugh Dancy, Claire Danes, Jeff Daniels, Alden Ehrenreich, Craig Ferguson, Morgan Freeman, Paul Giamatti, Domhnall Gleeson, Tom Hanks, Ethan Hawke, Maya Hawke, Lucas Hedges, Josh Hutcherson, Samuel L.
