Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the horror thriller Wolf Man co-written and directed by Leigh Whannell and starring  Christopher Abbott, Julia Garner, Matlida Firth, Beatriz Romilly, Ben Prendergast, Sam Jaeger, Zac Chandler, Benedict Hardie and Milo Cawthorne. The film’s original music is composed by Benjamin Wallfisch (ItAlien: Romulus, The Invisible ManTwisters, Blade Runner, Shazam!, 2049Hidden Figures, Thirteen Lives). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Also opening wide is the comedy One of Them Days directed by Lawrence Lamont and starring Keke Palmer, SZA, Katt Williams, Maude Apatow, Janelle James and Lil Rel Howery. Chanda Dancy (Lawmen: Bass Reeves, Blink Twice, DevotionI Wanna Dance with Somebody, Aftershock, The Defeated) has composed the film’s original music. Madison Gate Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Opening in select U.S. theaters today following an awards-qualifying release last month is the Brazilian period drama I’m Still Here (Ainda Estou Aqui) directed by Walter Salles and starring Fernanda Torres, Fernanda Montenegro and Selton Mello. The film’s original score is composed by Warren Ellis (The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Blonde, Hell or High Water, Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, MustangThe Road). No word on a soundtrack release. Also opening in select theaters today before coming out on VOD on February 4 is the romantic drama Wish You Were Here directed by Julia Stiles and starring Isabelle Fuhrman, Mena Massoud, Jimmy Fails, Gabby Kono-Abdy, Kelsey Grammer and Jennifer Grey. Singer/songwriter Vanessa Carlton and John McCauley (of the rock band Deer Tick) have composed the film’s original music and made their scoring debut on the project. Also opening in select U.S. theaters is the family adventure Autumn and the Black Jaguar (Le dernier jaguar) directed by Gilles de Maistre and starring Lumi Pollack, Emily Bett Rickards and Paul Greene. The film’s original music is composed by Armand Amar (The ConcertMia and the White Lion, A Bag of Marbles, The Wolf and the LionThe Source, Belle & Sebastian, The History of Love). Long Distance has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last February when the movie opened in France. Also opening in select U.S. theaters today before coming out on VOD next Friday, January 24, is the Belgian/French thriller Night Call (La nuit se traîne) directed by Michiel Blanchart and starring Jonathan Feltre, Jonas Bloquet, Romain Duris, Thomas Mustin and Natacha Krief. TEPR (aka Tanguy Destable) has composed the film’s original music and made his feature scoring debut on the project. Gaumont has released a soundtrack album featuring the artist’s score last summer when the movie opened in France. Opening in select theaters and on VOD today is the action thriller Alarum directed by Michael Polish and starring Scott Eastwood, Sylvester Stallone, Willa Fitzgerald and Mike Colter. The film’s original music is composed by Yagmur Kaplan (Armor, Cash Out, Deadlock). No soundtrack album has been released. The movie, which revolves around two married spies who are suspected of joining a team of rogue agents known as ALARUM and get caught in the crosshairs of an international intelligence network that will stop at nothing to obtain a critical asset, is being released by Lionsgate.
