Opening semi-wide in around 600 theaters is the comedy Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead directed by Wade Allain-Marcus and starring Simone Joy Jones, Ms. Pat, June Squibb, Jermaine Fowler and Nicole Richie. The film’s original music is composed by Jonathan Scott Friedman (French Dirty). No soundtrack album has been released. The movie, which is based on the 1991 feature of the same title (scored by David Newman) and follows a 17-year-old who is forced to stay home with her three siblings when her mother goes on vacation and gets a job working for a confident and ambitious woman, is being released by Iconic Events.
Opening in Los Angeles and New York this weekend before expanding nationwide next Friday, April 19 is the surreal comedy Sasquatch Sunset directed by David & Nathan Zellner and starring Jesse Eisenberg, Riley Keough Christophe Zajac-Denek and Nathan Zellner himself. The Octopus Project (Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter, Damsel) has composed the film’s original music. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the experimental band’s music today. Also opening in select theaters today before coming out on VOD on Tuesday, April 16, is the sports comedy drama Sweet Dreams directed by Lije Sarki and starring Johnny Knoxville, Mo Amer, GaTa, Bobby Lee, Jonnie Park, Theo Von, Brian Van Holt, Shakewell, Adam Faison, Erik Anthony Gonzalez, Beth Grant, Jay Mohr and Kate Upton.
