Composer Hanan Townshend (Knight of CupsTo the Wonder, Semper Fi, Outcry, The Book of Vision) is reuniting with director Julio Quintana on the upcoming sports drama The Long Game. The film starring Jay Hernandez, Dennis Quaid, Cheech Marin, Jaina Lee Ortiz, Julian Works, Oscar Nuñez, Brett Cullen, Richard Robichaux and Paulina Chávez is set in 1950s Texas and follows five young Mexican-American caddies at a local, exclusive golf club where the discriminatory laws of the era forbade them from playing, as they create their own homemade course in the Texas desert. Quintana also co-wrote the screenplay with Jennifer C. Stetson & Paco Farias (Christmas with You) based on the book Mustang Miracle by Humberto G. Garcia. Quaid is producing the project with Javier Chapa, Ben Howard, Marla Quintana and Laura Quaid. Townshend has previously scored Quintana’s first two features, The Vessel and Blue Miracle. The Long Game is premiering this Sunday at the 2023 SXSW Film Festival.
