Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the musical fantasy adventure Wonka directed by Paul King and starring Timothée Chalamet, Calah Lane, Hugh Grant, Keegan-Michael Key, Rowan Atkinson, Sally Hawkins, Jim Carter and Olivia Colman. The film’s original songs are written by Neil Hannon (of The Divine Comedy) and the movie’s original score is composed by Joby Talbot (Sing, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Closed Circuit, Penelope). Opening in select theaters today before expanding to more markets next Friday, December 22, is the satire American Fiction written and directed by Cord Jefferson and starring Jeffrey Wright, Tracee Ellis Ross, Sterling K. Brown, Leslie Uggams, John Ortiz, Erika Alexander, Adam Brody, Keith David and Issa Rae. Laura Karpman (The Marvels, What If…?, Ms. Marvel, Lovecraft Country, Underground, Taken, Set It Up) has composed the film’s original music. Sony Masterworks has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Also opening in select theaters this weekend is the drama The Zone of Interest written and directed by Jonathan Glazer and starring Christian Friedel, Sandra Hüller, Daniel Holzberg, Medusa Knopf, Sascha Maaz, Wolfgang Lampl, Max Beck, Ralph Herforth and Freya Kreutzkam. The film’s original music is composed by Mica Levi (Jackie, Under the Skin, Monos, Small Axe). No word on a soundtrack release. Tom Holkenborg (aka Junkie XL) (Mad Max: Fury Road, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Alita: Battle Angel, Deadpool, Sonic the Hedgehog, Godzilla vs. Kong) has composed the film’s original music.
