La-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack album for Steven Spielberg’s 1997 sci-fi adventure sequel The Lost World: Jurassic Park starring Jeff Goldblum, Julianne Moore, Arliss Howard and Pete Postlethwaite. The album features the remastered and expanded original score from the Universal Pictures & Amblin Entertainment production composed and conducted by Academy Award winner John Williams (Star Wars, Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Schindler’s List), including previously unreleased takes of three cues, as well as the film version of the track Ripples. The 2-CD set is limited to 5,000 copies and will be available to order on the label’s official website at noon today and on Amazon within the next few weeks. The label has previously released a 4-CD set featuring Williams’ expanded score from both Jurassic Park and The Lost World back in 2016. The Lost World: Jurassic Park is now available on VOD, Blu-ray and DVD.

Would it kill em to release on streaming instead of this artificial exclusivity

    • Steve says:

To be fair, the same can be said about a lack of CD releases of scores. Try finding scores to the Marvel movies from the past several years on CD (not to mention many of the older ones that did come out on CD have been out of print for years!). The expanded version of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” is also not available on CD.

  2. Sam says:

While The Lost World is my least-favorite film of the series (still enjoy it, though, with an eight out of ten), I can definitely say that the score is probably my fifth-favorite of the franchise, behind all the Jurassic World films and the original. Jurassic Park III (composed by Don Davis) is the closest I have to a least-favorite score for the franchise, but not at all in a negative way. If I had to try and pick a favorite track, “Rescuing Sarah” has always been one of my favorites, especially for that moment that appears as Ian, Sarah, and Nick are being helped up the cliff by Roland (later reused in Jurassic Park III in the track “Tiny Pecking Pteranodons”).
