Plaza Mayor Company will release a soundtrack album for the Lebanese drama Broken Keys (Le Dernier Piano). The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Gabriel Yared (The English Patient, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Cold Mountain, Judy, Betty Blue, 1408). The soundtrack will be released digitally on April 1, 2022 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A CD version is available to order here. Broken Keys is written and directed by Jimmy Keyrouz and stars Tarek Yaacoub, Sara Abi Kanaan and Adel Karam. The movie tells the true story of a young pianist trying to leave his war-torn Middle-East neighborhood and aspiring to a career in Europe, who struggles to rebuild his piano after it was destroyed by a leader of the Islamic state. The drama, which was part of the official selection of the canceled 2020 Cannes Film Festival, premiered at several film festivals last year and will be released in French theaters on April 13. No word yet on a domestic distribution deal.
