Marty Beller (Korengal, Another Gay Movie, Gypsy 83) is the composer of the new Showtime original series American Rust. The show is created by Dan Futterman (Foxcatcher, Capote) based on Philipp Meyer’s debut novel of the same title and stars Jeff Daniels, Maura Tierney, Bill Camp, David Alvarez, Alex Neustaedter, Julia Mayorga, Mark Pellegrino and Rob Yang. The drama tells the story of the chief of police of a Pennsylvania Rust Belt town who must decide what lengths he is willing to take to protect the son of the woman he loves when news of a murder rips through the town. Futterman and Daniels are also executive producing the project with Michael De Luca (The Social Network, Moneyball), Adam Rapp (The Looming Tower), Paul Martino (Inside Game), Katie O’Connell Marsh (Narcos, Hannibal) and Elisa Ellis. Beller has previously scored the Futterman-produced Fox drama Gracepoint and third season of HBO’s In Treatment. American Rust will premiere this coming Sunday, September 12 on Showtime. What is the background music in Episode 2 at the 14:37 time mark? It sounds middle-eastern or gypsy-esque? I tried to Shazam it. It kind of reminds me a bit of Amon Tobin or Beats Antique.
