The only movie opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the sc-fi thriller Voyagers written and directed by Neil Burger and starring Tye Sheridan, Lily-Rose Depp, Fionn Whitehead, Chanté Adams, Isaac Hempstead Wright, Archie Madekwe, Viveik Kalra, Quintessa Swindell, Madison Hu and Colin Farrell. The film’s original music is composed by Trevor Gureckis (Servant, The Goldfinch, Old, Bloodline). A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score will be released next week by Lakeshore Records and will be announced soon. Opening in select U.S. theaters and virtual cinemas today is the French coming-of-age drama Slalom written and directed by Charlène Favier and starring Noée Abita and Jérémie Renier. The film’s original music is composed by LoW Entertainment (aka Alexandre Lier, Sylvain Ohrel & Nicolas Weil) (The Freshmen, Hippocrates: Diary of a French Doctor, The Country Doctor). Mille et Une Production has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score earlier this year. Another movie opening in select theaters and on VOD today is the South African drama Moffie co-written and directed by Oliver Hermanus and starring Kai Luke Brummer, Ryan de Villiers, Matthew Vey, Stefan Vermaak and Hilton Pelser. Braam du Toit (Fynskrif (Fine Print), The Endless River) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been released. The movie, which is set in South Africa during the early 80s and follows a white boy who is called into military service to defend the apartheid regime, premiered at the 2019 Venice Film Festival, opened in South African theaters last year and is being released in the U.S. by IFC Films.
