Marcelo Zarvos (Fences, The Equalizer 3, May December, Wonder, Good American Family, The Affair, Emancipation, The Good ShepherdRay Donovan) has recently scored the upcoming Netflix original animated film KPop Demon Hunters. The movie is directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans (Wish Dragon) and features the voices of Arden Cho, Ahn Hyo-seop, May Hong, Ji-young Yoo, Joel Kim Booster, Kim Yunjin, Liza Koshy, Daniel Dae Kim, Ken Jeong and Lee Byung-hun. The Sony Pictures Animation production tells the story of three Kpop superstars who use their secret identities as badass demon hunters to protect their fans from an ever-present supernatural threat as they face their biggest enemy yet – an irresistible rival boy band of demons in disguise. Kang & Appelhans also wrote the screenplay wit Danya Jimenez & Hannah McMechan based on a story by Kang. Michelle L.M. Wong (Vivo, Surf’s Up 2: WaveMania) is producing the project. KPop Demon Hunters will premiere on June 20 on Netflix and will also be released in select theaters on the same day.

Zarvos’ other recent feature projects include Stephen Chbosky’s Nonnas, which just premiered on Netflix earlier this month, as well as Hannah Berryman’s documentary Spacewoman, which premiered at last year’s DOC NYC and is currently awaiting a release date.
