The only movie opening nationwide this week is the live-action/animated feature Playmobil: The Movie directed by Lino DiSalvo and starring Anya- Taylor Joy, Jim Gaffigan, Gabriel Bateman, Kenan Thompson and Daniel Radcliffe. Opening in select theaters before premiering on Amazon Prime on December 20 is the adventure drama The Aeronauts directed by Tom Harper and starring Eddie Redmayne, Felicity Jones, Tom Courtenay and Himesh Patel. Steven Price (GravityOur PlanetSuicide SquadBaby DriverFury) has composed the film’s original score. Also opening in limited release is the French drama Portrait of a Lady on Fire (Portrait de la jeune fille en feu) written and directed by Céline Sciamma and starring Noémie Merlant and Adéle Haenel. The film’s original music is composed by Jean-Baptiste de Laubier and Arthur Simonini. No soundtrack album has been released for the movie, which is set in France, 1760 and follows a woman who commissioned to paint the wedding portrait of a young woman who has just left the convent. The drama premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and is being released by Neon.

Also opening in select theaters and on VOD is the horror thriller Daniel Isn’t Real co-written and directed by Adam Egypt Mortimer and starring Patrick Schwarzenegger, Miles Robbins, Sasha Lane, Hannah Marks and Mary Stuart Masterson. Clark (aka Chris Clark) (The Last PanthersNational Treasure: KiriRellik) has composed the film’s original music. Deutsche Grammophon has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Also opening in select cities is the psychological thriller The Wolf Hour written and directed by Alistair Banks Griffin and starring Naomi Watts, Jennifer Ehle, Kelvin Harrison Jr. and Emory Cohen. The film’s original music is composed by Danny Bensi & Saunder Jurriaans (Boy Erased, Ozark, Enemy, The Gift, American Gods, Fear the Walking Dead). No word on a soundtrack album. Also opening in select theaters is the action thriller Trauma Center directed by Matt Eskandari and starring Nicky Whelan, Bruce Willis, Tito Ortiz, Texas Battle, Catherine Davis, Lala Kent, Sergio Rizzuto, Tyler John Olson and Steve Guttenberg. The film’s original music is composed by Nima Fakhrara (The SignalDetroit: Become HumanThe Pyramid, Crypto). No soundtrack album has been announced.
