Hans Zimmer has signed on to score the upcoming superhero sequel Wonder Woman 1984. The film is directed by Patty Jenkins (Monster) who previously helmed last year’s original movie (scored by Rupert Gregson-Williams) and stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig and Pedro Pascal. The movie follows the title character as she comes into conflict with the Soviet Union during the Cold War in the 1980s, and finds a formidable foe in the form of the Cheetah. Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder, Jenkins, Stephen Jones and Gadot are producing the project. Zimmer has previously contributed the Wonder Woman theme to 2016’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of JusticeWonder Woman 1984 is set to be released on November 1, 2019 by Warner Bros. Pictures. (Hans-Zimmer.com)

Zimmer’s other upcoming projects also include X-Men: Dark Phoenix, Disney’s The Lion King remake and Steve McQueen’s Widows.

  1. Excellent news! Zimmer composed my favorite film score of all-time (Man of Steel), so I’m always down for him to score a movie! I’m excited that he’ll be returning to the DCEU again with Wonder Woman 1984! His Wonder Woman theme is awesome as we’ve already heard, and I can’t wait to hear what he does with the rest of his score for this film!

  2. Niki says:

So now Zimmer has scored a Batman, Superman, and a Wonder Woman movie.

  3. The Truth says:

Hans Zimmer is a LIAR and a HYPOCRITE. He said that he had retired from superhero films, yet this is the second time he has broken that promise. He said that he wanted to work on more artistic films. The argument that they can’t afford him is completely irrelevant since he is a multi-millionaire, and thus can easily fund his own scores. Zimmer said that a female composer should score Wonder Woman. It’s one thing that the filmmakers did not take his advice, but now he is breaking his own advice. Is this going to be a score written by female ghostwriters? Don’t trust a single word that he says!

    • Everan says:

Yeah, people can’t change their mind, at all.

    • dirty_score says:

Well, these days Hans Zimmer only writes the main theme and let his minions do the rest of the work while maintaining full credit so..

But yeah, he should have stayed away from superhero movies like he said. Or blockbusters in general. If he ever wants a second shot at the oscars he needs to actually score some REAL movies.

Or at least, have fun doing smaller movies.

    • Tom de Ruiter says:

Why are there so many people angry at Hans for scoring superhero movies again.
Averybody says something sometimes that they change later for whatever reason. We don’t know what the reason is he’s scoring X-Men & WW.

I personally think it’s great that Hans is scoring superhero movies and beside that The Lion King and Widows. I think these four scores are going to be great.
