Taro Iwashiro is reteaming with director John Woo on the upcoming action thriller Manhunt. The film starring Zhang Hanyu, Masaharu Fukuyama, Qi Wei and Ha Jiwon is based on the classic 1970s Japanese feature Kimi yo Fundo no Kawa o Watare and follows an innocent man who sets out to clear his name after his is framed for robbery and rape. Gordon Chan (Painted Skin, he Medaillon) and Chan Hing Kai are producing the project. Iwashiro has previously collaborated with Woo (Face/Off, Broken Arrow, Windtalkers, Mission: Impossible 2) on his last features, Red Cliff and The Crossing. Manhunt will premiere next week at the Venice Film Festival and is set to be released in China later this year.
