Aaron Zigman is composing the music for the upcoming drama The Shack. The film is directed by Stuart Hazeldine (Exam) and stars Sam Worthington, Octavia Spencer, Radha Mitchell, Graham Greene and Aviv Alush. The movie is based on the bestselling novel by William Paul Young and follows a grieving man whose youngest daughter was abducted during a family vacation and receives a mysterious, personal invitation to meet with God at a place called “The Shack.” John Fusco (Hidalgo, Young Guns, The Forbidden Kingdom) has written the screenplay. Gil Netter (Life of Pi, The Blind Side, Phone Booth) is producing the project with Brad Cummings. Zigman has previously scored the 2006 family drama Flicka for Netter. The Shack is set to be released on March 3, 2017 by Lionsgate.
As previously reported, Zigman also has Robin Swicord’s Wakefield starring Bryan Cranston & Jennifer Garner coming up. He also scored the upcoming comedy drama Dear Eleanor directed by actor Kevin Connolly and starring Isabelle Fuhrman, Liana Liberato, Jessica Alba, Josh Lucas, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Joel Courtney and Luke Wilson. The movie follows two teenage girls who travel across the U.S. in 1962 during the chaos of the Cuban missile crisis, in search of Eleanor Roosevelt. Cecilia Contreras & Amy Garcia have written the screenplay and Chuck Pacheco (My Sister’s Keeper, Alpha Dog), Caleb Applegate and Hilary Sherman are producing the project. Dear Eleanor is set to be released on July 5, 2016.
