Steffen Thum (Crawl, Slingshot, Stockholm Bloodbath, Betrayal) has joined Ruth Barrett (Bodyguard, The Terminal List, Victoria, Sanditon) to score the upcoming Netflix original film The Old Guard 2. The movie is directed by Victoria Mahoney (Lovecraft Country) and stars Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Uma Thurman, Marwan Kenzari, Matthias Schoenaerts, Luca Marinelli, Veronica Ngô and Henry Golding. The sequel follows Andy and her team of immortal warriors as they return to protect humanity from a formidable new enemy who threatens their existence. Greg Rucka (Heart of Stone, Stumptown) and Sarah L. Walker (The Twelve, The Secrets We Keep) wrote the screenplay based on Rucka’s graphic novel series. Theron is also producing the project with Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg & Don Granger (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Jack Reacher), Marc Evans (Instant Family, Like a Boss), as well as Denver and Delilah’s Beth Kono & AJ Dix (Atomic Blonde, Tully). Barrett was originally set to co-score the film with Max Aruj (who has recently been co-scoring Christopher McQuarrie’s Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning) when the movie was scheduled to debut in 2023. The Old Guard 2 will premiere on July 2 exclusively on Netflix.
