Clint Mansell has been hired to score the upcoming animated feature Loving Vincent. The film is directed by Dorota Kobiela (Little Postman) & Hugh Welchman (Peter & the Wolf) and features the voices of Douglas Booth, Saoirse Ronan, Jerome Flynn, Chris O’Dowd, Eleanor Tomlinson, Aidan Turner, John Sessions and Helen McCrory. The movie tells the story of the final months and mysterious death of artist Vincent Van Gogh. Hugh Welchman and Ivan Mactaggart (My Week with Marilyn) are producing the project. Welchman has also written the screenplay with Dorota Kobiela. The movie, for which 60 artists are producing 57’800 oil paintings in Van Gogh’s style, is expected to premiere later this year. Mansell’s upcoming projects also include Duncan Jones’ Mute. The composer also revealed in a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times that he is set to compose the music for an upcoming episode of the British series Black Mirror, which will return for a third season later this year on Netflix. Mansell’s latest projects is his score for Ben Wheatley’s High-Rise, which is being released in the UK this week and will debut in U.S. theaters in May.
