Three new movies opened nationwide this past Wednesday:
Playing in most theaters is the animated feature The Good Dinosaur directed by Peter Sohn and featuring the voices of Raymond Ochoa, Jack Bright, Frances McDormand, Jeffrey Wright, Sam Elliott, Anna Paquin, Marcus Scribner, A.J. Buckley and Steve Zahn. The film’s original music is composed by Mychael Danna (Life of Pi, Capote) and Jeff Danna (The Boondock Saints, Silent Hill). Also playing nationwide is the sports drama Creed directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Michael B. Jordan, Sylvester Stallone, Tessa Thompson, Phylicia Rashad and Anthony Bellews. Ludwig Goransson (Fruitvale Station, Community, We’re the Millers, 30 Minutes or Less) has composed the film’s original music. The third wide release of the week is the horror thriller Victor Frankenstein directed by Paul McGuigan and starring Daniel Radcliffe, James McAvoy, Jessica Brown Findlay, Andrew Scott and Freddie Fox. The film’s original music is composed by Craig Armstrong (Moulin Rouge!, The Great Gatsby, The Incredible Hulk). Fox Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score digitally last week and a physical release is available from La-La Land Records. Opening in New York and Los Angeles today before expanding to more markets over the next couple of weeks is the drama The Danish Girl directed by Tom Hooper and starring Eddie Redmayne, Alicia Vikander, Ben Whishaw, Sebastian Koch, Amber Heard and Matthias Schoenaerts. Alexandre Desplat (The King’s Speech, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Godzilla, The Grand Budapest Hotel) has composed the film’s original music. Decca Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score next Friday. Also opening in limited release is the romantic drama The Summer of Sangailé written and directed by Alanté Kavaïté and starring Julija Steponaitytė, Aistė Diržiūtė, Jūratė Sodyte and Martynas Budraitis. JB Dunckel has composed the film’s original music. Prototype Recording has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this year. Also opening in select theaters is the documentary Killing Them Safely directed by Nick Berardini, which centers on Taser International, the company which manufactures the eponymous electrical weapons marketed as a non-lethal alternative to guns. The film’s original music composed by Brooke and Will Blair (Green Room, Blue Ruins). Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ music, as well as the song Tear Me Away by Northern Arms.
