Also premiering on Tuesday on ABC is the new comedy Selfie created by Emily Kapnek and starring Karen Gillan, John Cho, Tim Peper, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Allyn Rachel and David Harewood. Jared Faber (Suborgatory, As Told by Ginger) is composing the show’s original music. Selfie follows a self-obsessed twentysomething who is more concerned with “likes” than being liked. Premiering in the U.S. on Tuesday on Netflix is the British period crime drama Peaky Blinders created by Steven Knight (Eastern Promises, Locke) and starring Cillian Murphy, Sam Neill, Helen McCrory, Annabelle Wallis, Paul Anderson, Iddo Goldberg, Sophie Rundle, Joe Cole and Ned Dennehy. The show’s original music is composed by Mearl, which features composer Martin Phipps (Brighton Rock, Harry Brown). The drama’s opening theme is the song Red Right Hand by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. The series follows a feared gang named for their practice of sewing razor blades into the peaks of their caps. All episodes of the first season of Peaky Blinders will be available on Netflix on Tuesday, with the second season set to premiere in November.
Premiering on Wednesday, October 1, is the new CBS drama Stalker created by Kevin Williamson (Scream, Dawson’s Creek) and starring Maggie Q, Dylan McDermott, Victor Rasuk and Mariana Klaveno. John Frizzell (Alien: Resurrection, Dante’s Peak, Office Space) who is also scoring the Williamson-created Fox drama The Following is composing the show’s original music. Premiering on Thursday, October 2, is the Fox event series Gracepoint created by Chris Chibnall and starring David Tennant, Anna Gunn, Michael Peña, Kevin Zegers, Nick Nolte, Jacki Weaver, Kevin Rankin, Jessica Lucas, Jack Irvine, Virginia Kull, Sarah-Jane Potts and Josh Hamilton. The show’s original music is composed by Marty Beller (In Treatment, Korangol) who is best known as the drummer for the rock band They Might Be Giants. Also premiering on Thursday is the new NBC comedy A to Z created by Ben Queen (Cars 2) and starring Ben Feldman, Cristin Milioti, Henry Zebrowski, Lenora Crichlow, Christina Kirk and Hong Chau. Katey Sagal is narrating the show, which is scored by Craig Wedren (Role Models, Wet Hot American Summer, The School of Rock, Hung, Wanderlust). Usher, Ronreaco Lee, Erica Ash, Tichina Arnold, Teyonah Parris and Mike Epps, as well as executive producer Mike O’Malley. The show’s original music is composed by Ludwig Goransson (Community, New Girl, Top Five, Fruitvale Station, We’re the Millers). Missing from last week’s TV music roundup was the new drama How to Get Away With Murder created by Peter Nowalk, executive produced by Shonda Rhimes and starring Viola Davis, Billy Brown, Alfred Enoch, Jack Falahee, Katie Findlay, Aja Naomi King, Matt McGorry, Karla Souza, Charlie Weber and Liza Weil. Photek (Gang Related) who is best known as a record producer and DJ is composing the show’s original music. How to Get Away with Murder follows a law professor at a prestigious Philadelphia university who becomes entwined in a murder plot.
